USING BASEBALL HATS TO BOOST EMPLOYEE MOTIVATION AND JOB PERFORMANCE
Using customized, colored baseball hats to boost employee performance
It’s been some time since the baseball hat became a symbol of recognition and high-status. Wearing a baseball hat, especially one with the right color and embroidery design makes people feel important, appreciated, and unique.
Setting up a simple system for motivating employees to higher levels of performance and achievement doesn't have to cost the company a fortune. The idea is to gamify productivity goals in a way that increases employee engagement and motivation.
The idea is pretty simple:
Measure the performance of your employees based on four levels of achievement, using monthly productivity measurements or using data based on monthly sales performance for each employee.
For every level attained, the employee is elevated to the next level and gets a baseball hat associated with the achieved goal-level of performance as follows:
A white baseball hat is offered for the starters of the game, while baseball hats with yellow, green, blue, and red colors correspond to the first, second, third, and fourth level of achievement in job performance for the month.
Here is how the Baseball Hat motivation system works in practice:
1.White Hat--Game is on: Welcome to the game!
Initially, all employees wear a white baseball hat, regardless of their job productivity level or sales performance. The White Baseball Hat is a plain white hat intended for every employee at the beginning of the game-with no company signs, embroidery, or any design on it. It’s sole purpose is to welcome the employees and initiate them to the game.
At this level, instructions about the game’s rules for performance l...

Along with a Red, baseball Hat and the option to design their own hat and polo or sweater the way she or he likes, the manager throws a pizza party to personally congratulate and thank all the employees for their outstanding performance.
You may customize the above system to fit your company’s needs.
The game can be customized and adjusted to fit your company’s unique conditions and circumstances. As employees level up, moving from one level to a higher one, it is important to increase the options and freedom in designing their own baseball hat using their own embroidery or stamp. By allowing employees to customize their own baseball hat, polo or sweater, their need for recognition, higher achievement, and self-esteem are deeply satisfied, improving in this way business performance, motivation and productivity.
A salary cap in pro sports is the amount of money every team in a league can spend on all of the players on its roster in one year. Major League Baseball does not have a salary cap. The reason for a salary cap is to keep teams competitive and not have just two or three outstanding teams that dominate everyone. Another reason leagues like the National Football League and the National Basketball Association have a salary cap is it is fair and gives teams an equal chance to get players which can make a large impact on their team by using their skill and experience. Salary caps also keep players from receiving contracts which give them an extremely large undeserved salary. This is why I am for a salary cap in Major League Baseball.
The New York Yankees are arguably the most storied and well-recognized sports organization in the world. “...they are perhaps the epitome of a large market baseball team (Emanuele, 2010). Not only do they have the most national championships in the history of North American sports, but they are valued as the highest sports franchise in the United States; being worth $2.3 billion according to Forbes.com. Their tremendous wealth, power, and influence is reflected by a fan base and awe that stretches world-wide. From the Bronx to South Korea, from Cuba to the Netherlands; the Yankee brand is known by just about everyone. The Yankees are referenced in movies and songs, and the Yankee cap has become a part of pop-culture as hollywood
Employers have been coming up with innovative employee rewards to boost morale and acknowledge employee needs for creativity and personal goal accomplishment. Some of the latest potential employee rewards include using the internet at work for personal reasons such as shopping, communicating with friends, or personal finances; bringing a pet to work; instituting a controlled napping policy, and the sports and office betting pools..
Hitting a baseball is not nearly as hard as it seems. The professional baseball players make hitting a baseball either look very easy or extremely hard. To begin the process the following items are needed: a bat, a baseball, and baseball gloves so that the hit baseball can be caught. Once all the items listed are collected there is one more thing needed, a place to play. Make sure that the teams are even that way it is a fair game.
In a business or a workplace, it is essential for the organization, which consists of the employers, the managers, and their employees, to work towards reward programs within the human resources in order to create a healthy and cordial work environment and most importantly, to efficiently achieve business’ goals. In Carol Patton’s (2013) article, Rewarding Best Behaviors, she explains the importance of several companies that are beginning to recognize their employees, not just for the end-results, but for reflecting good behaviors towards the business’ values, such as demonstrating creativity on certain projects, problem solving towards certain issues, and also collaborating with fellow co-workers. Patton stresses that these reward programs could help suffice the overall being of a company as long as the rewarded behaviors correlate with the corporate strategy. Patton expresses that some things human resources must comprehend include “how its company creates success, what drives its business strategy and what behaviors are needed from employees to achieve that success” (Patton, 2013 para. 15). Moreover, the employee would be reflected as a role model for others and perhaps influence them to demonstrate comparable behaviors.
doing what baseball teams have be doing for a hundred years. The Athletics as a whole are very methodical following different procedures depending on the time of year. We see this right away in the movie, we go from the losing game straight into offseason activities. Talking about what players to get to fill holes in the lineup and how to structure the team for next season. Once training camp and the season starts the organization switches into improving and working with players on their current roster. Only trading or acquiring new players when it is needed, they set that aspect of the game aside for the season. Throughout the whole year they will try to develop their team and win games until the offseason come and they will begin the process
There are two outs in the bottom of the ninth, and the bases are juiced. The pitcher towers over everyone, the center of everyone’s attention as he gets ready to pitch off of his throne of dirt. Just one more out and his team will go to the World Series and who is behind the catcher playing one of the most valuable roles in the entire baseball game, the Umpire. Baseball has been around since for close to 2 centuries with games being played all around the globe, and where ever or whenever there is a baseball game there is a guy in a blue shirt squatted being home plate calling the game.
Baseball is a unique sport in many different ways. It is the only major competitive sport that has no time limit. The success of a player is determined on how well he can play as an individual and how well the team plays along with him. There are many rules that determine the success of a player’s performance. A baseball game is played with two teams and each team is permitted 25 players per team; however this is only true for professional teams. There are three parts to baseball: offense, pitching, and defense.
Baseball is known as America’s national pastime, and has been played for over 100 years. Baseball can be a lot of fun, but is also extremely challenging to play, especially trying to hit a 90 mile per hour fastball. I am a very devoted baseball player myself, and over the years I have learned numerous key things about the game. Baseball does not only require physical strength to hit and throw the ball, but it also requires a great mindset, such as, mental preparedness, concentration, and a positive attitude.
Organized baseball began in the 1830s with the formation of the New York Knickerbockers. The Knickerbocker Baseball Club set rules of the game which are still used today. “The country’s first ‘all-professional’ baseball team emerged in 1869, the Cincinnati Red Stockings, financed by a group of Ohio investors” (Smith, n.d., First Pro Team section). A short time later, the team was moved to Boston, and the team name was changed to the Boston Red Stockings. There, the team joined teams from eight other cities in forming the National Association of Professional Ball Players. A social world of baseball was being formed; it was made up of a community of young men who enjoyed playing baseball at the elite level. The baseball players were willing to endure the low salaries and the hardship of travel for the love of the game. The players had each other to talk to about the thrill of
Information Technology has quickly became an everyday part of life. It is used in almost every aspect of our lives. It used at home to check e-mail, send text messages, and surf the web. It is used at work for networking and even many modern telephone systems. In many cases IT is simply a part of our day. Major League Baseball is no different. The league has also become very active in the IT world. It is used in almost every single aspect of the game, as well as the business. If you look back at baseball through the ages, it is easy to see just how much it has changed. The trick for Major League Baseball was they knew they had to advance to keep up in today’s world. However, at the same time, they knew that fans loved the game of baseball because of its history. Baseball has a legendary past that is appealing to fans. They want the modern technologies without losing the vintage appeal. Major League Baseball has done just that. They have become one of the most technologically advanced sports in America. Everything from how tickets are purchased all the way to just how the games are broadcast, it has all changed dramatically.
Spring is full of transformations and changes. Flowers blossom, the temperature rises, and those with allergies begin a long journey of pain and agony. The start of spring also brings with it the beginning of baseball and softball. By carefully analyzing two teams representative of each sport at the University of Arizona a sociological analysis based on the similarities and differences between the sports was conducted. Despite the relative similarities between the two sports a number of differences were also identified showing that both sports are interconnected with cultural aspects and elements that may not immediately be observed on the surface.
Baseball is one of the hardest sports to play. Baseball, unlike every other sport, does not have a certain location to bring the ball to or a goal to put the ball in. The team, not only one player, has to work together to win every single game. On average every player has an at-bat three
Reward Management (RM) has been defined as the distribution of monetary and non-monetary rewards to employees in an effort to align the interests of the employees, the organisation, and its shareholders (O’Neil, 1998). In addition O’Neil (1998) also suggests that a RM system can serve the purpose of attracting prospective job applicants, retaining valuable employees, motivating employees, ensuring legal requirements relating to direct and indirect rewards are not violated, assisting the company in achieving human resource and business objectives, and ultimately assisting the organisation in obtaining a competitive advantage.
"A simple thing such as giving a employee a little reward for outstanding performance for a month or a year could help motivate other employees to want to do better so that they could have the chance to be recognized for their outstanding work.
