A: According to the observations in the table above, I have concluded that icing sugar is the mystery powder. From the very beginning of the experiment it was narrowed down to two substances, icing sugar and cornstarch. It was concluded to be those two because the physical appearance and the texture only matched with icing sugar and cornstarch. The two main factors of finding the mystery powder was the reaction with water and vinegar.

This was a huge problem for the experiment as this could have totally caused problems to the experiment. Everybody knows the classic Disney Princess films. They always starts with a beautiful, helpless princess who needs a handsome prince to ride in on his noble stead to save her life with true love’s kiss. Disney imparts this ideology that true love is the means to finding eternal happiness. It becomes the focus of the movies and is engraved in the minds of the audience. This story line can be seen in many classic Disney movies, such as, Beauty and the Beast, Snow White and Cinderella just to name a few. Disney Princess films encourage an expectation for relationships that is unrealistic, causing young girls to grow up idolizing Disney Princesses and longing to be saved by a handsome prince and live happily ever

Toddlers are the epitome of curiosity and energy. From ages 1 – 3, toddlers are always on the go and want to learn about everything in their world. As with infants, no two are alike; each toddler is unique in his or her developmental stages, and each accomplishes milestones at different times. “Although children develop at different rates, there are common stages of development that serve as guidelines for what most children can do by a certain age” (Groark, McCarthy & Kirk, 2014). As seen in the hatfieldmomof3 (2011) video, one observes toddlers at play and can determine the age of the toddlers by their actions and the milestones they have accomplished.
Today was like any other day for Little Red Riding Hood. Each day was the same for her. But, she did not know that... She woke up when the sun shined through the little window in her cottage and warmed her face and when she heard the birds singing a melodic song outside in the treetops. While yawning widely, she would stretch her arms and legs, and hop out of bed.
Advertisements use celebrities and Disney characters to give young girls the idea of being able to imitate their lifestyle. By buying the merchandise of these princesses young girls are buying this mentality and promoting the message. Playboy bunny and Disney princesses are different yet similar in the way that they exploit female bodies. For instance, in the film Mulan her mother and aunts state, “good breeding and a tiny waist will bring honor to them all,” as in her family name (“Disney and Sexism – You-Tube”). This implies that having a tiny waist is more attractive than a usual figure. This leads young girls to believe that the only way their body would be appreciated is if they have the same frame as Mulan. Mulan’s figure seemed average and the females in her family who were helping her get dressed in order to be presentable they used a fabric ribbon lace material to tighten her waist. This extremely emphasized in the movie giving the message that the only way your family will accept you is if you are thin. This Disney princess is over-sexualized because she uses her appearance to attain luxuries. Her family wants her to go on a date against her will in order to marry a man who she does not love. She struggles with her inner self. The producers show that even when a woman is strong she must please others.

Before learning about early childhood in this class I never realized all the way children at such a young age are developing. From the second part of this course I learned how much children are developing at the early childhood stage. I never realized children learn how about their emotions, having empathy, and self-concept at such a young age. I thought children had it easy. They play with friends, start school, and just be kids. One important thing that stood out to me in this chapter is that children’s self-esteem starts at this stage. According to Berk (2012), “self-esteem is the judgments we make about our own worth and the feelings associated with those judgments (p. 366)”. Self-esteem is very important for a child to have and it can
