A single generation consists of every person born within about a twenty year period. The three generations currently living on the planet are the baby boomers, Generation X, and Generation Y, also known as millennials . Baby boomers are the oldest generation still living. They are people born some time between 1940 to 1960 (Newman). This generation is the generation of folks who fought in World War II. After returning home from war, there was a great surge in population in the United States, hence the name Baby Boomers. Their children, Generation X, were born between the early 1960’s to the early 1980’s (Newman). This generation can also be known as the Post-World War II generation. Older people do not think young people care about improving the nation, and that they are more interested in updating their Twitter feed. While millennials are interested in keeping up with their social media accounts, they are also interested in politics. The problem is that millennials do not trust the government to help them anymore. Seventy-five percent of millennials donated to charity in 2011, and sixty-three percent volunteered in some way (Goudreau). Young people do not believe the government is a good way to perform their civic duties. They believe improving the world around them will make their lives better. A recent study found that millennials value transparency when it comes to politics (Handke). They want to be able to see where their money is going, and who/what it is helping. Millennials are not getting any sort of transparency with the current government. Every politician is backed by a huge corporation with only their own gain in mind. Millennials are no longer interested in playing a game with the government. They are less interested in a big vs small government, and are more interested in a better government

Every person belongs to a generation: you associate yourselves with a particular set of people usually based on age such as “Baby Boomers” from 1946 to 1964, “Generation X” from 1965 to 1979, and “Millennials” from 1980 to 2000, (Smola, 364). Parents’ generations differ from their children, and sometimes within their significant other. My parents, separated by two years, are both considered “Baby Boomers”, and my sister and I, also separated by two years are both considered “Millennials”. “Generation X” separates our generations, and as you can assume there are many differences between the two: “Baby Boomers” experienced the immense development of the economy and education (Kupperschmidt, 4).
Baby Boomers are those who were born from 1946 to 1964 post World War II.
Finances play a part in everyone’s lives. According to critics, the generation of Millennials have not been the most accomplished in this area. However, new information is on the rise, and it shows that Millennials are becoming more financially stable. The generation of Millennials is a broad group. The group of Millennials associated in this discussion are from the beginning of the Millennial generation, which are those born between the 1980s and 1990s. The Millennials generation itself ranges from the 1980s to 2004. After the Great Recession, the older generation of Millennials had a massive setback with financial security. Since then, Millennials have always been known for having poor finances by critics. Millennials may not
Workers are often pitted against each other in the work place as a form of competition. One division that is commonly seen is gender and race, but there is also a divide concerning age that isn’t discussed as frequently. Baby Boomers are those who was born between 1946-1964, when WWII soldiers came back home, settled down and started the “Baby Boom”. While Millennials are those born around 1981-2000, and have a similar population size as Baby Boomers. In the workplace, Millennials are categorized as being bad workers due to how they were raised in sheltered lifestyles and require a different environment than the previous generation, but that is not accurate. Even though the two generations view work different, sometimes to the point of conflict,
More than any generation in history, Millennials will change the face of politics. As they enter adulthood, they will begin using their sense of justice and values in voting for political party candidates. The current voting trends appear to show Millennials voting more Democrat than Republican. In the Millennial-Generated Change to American Governance, 44% of Millennials felt the government is not very successful at properly serving the public interest (Gagnier 32). Important issues include the internet and the congressional laws regulating the world wide web. Global Warming and clean energy are also important political issues for the growing population of Millennials.
The Millennial generation is the newest generation that is becoming adults. Born between 1980 and 2000, this generation is approximately 80 million strong. They are a tech-savvy group, with short attention spans and open minds to race, sexuality, and religion. When it comes to politics, however, there are many speculations about the scale in which they will be involved, if at all. Although many people believe that the millennial generation is too lazy and self-centered to cast their votes, this claim is not valid because they already have had a major impact on past elections.
The first approach to analyzing both interviews was looking at how they processed the tragic life event due to their generation label. Lisa is a middle-aged adult apart of the Baby Boomers and Kelly is a young adult categorized under Generation Y. It is important to look at generational identities in order to understand how they collectively respond and react to events and others. Many attitudes and values that identify under Baby Boomers are optimism, equality, personal growth and team orientation. Similar attitudes characterize the Generation Y such as optimism, diversity, confidence, and civic duty (Adwoa Buahene & Giselle Kovary, 2003). Those these may be altered terms all seem to have an underlying generalization for both generations.
The two states that I have chosen to study is New York and Texas for the demographic of aging project. The reason that I was interested in these two states is because I have lived in both states and I wanted to learn more about the aging demographics. Another reason I thought it would be interesting is because both states are different regarding culture, and cost of living. I really love living in both states and I will live in one of the two when I am done with school. Moreover, I expect Texas to have a greater population of elderly because Texas is one of the largest states in the United States. I have experience the life of living in these two states and they are completely diverse. Some of the main factors that we must take into considering

The term “American Dream” was wrought by James Truslow Adams in the book The Epic of America from 1931, where the expression was defined as an equilibrium between material wealth and moral freedom (Students - Procedure - The American Dream - Lesson Plan | Teacher Resources - Library Of Congress). Throughout the years, however, this concept has changed a lot, achieving the apex of its popularity worldwide representing the hope for an economically stable-or even privileged-life.
The Millennial generation are believed to be putting off getting married for a variety of different reasons. Some are more obvious then others. Most are leaning towards the delay for finical reasons, either they have to little money or are viewing kids as a speed bump on the road to them earning more money faster. There are some reasons that are not so obvious, like emotional readiness. Having the generation grow up with the highest in penitential divorce or unstable households, they do want to have their child grow up in that same environment. Whatever the reason is behind it, there is a sure increase in the median age of Americans getting married and starting families.

Social change occurs over time, sometimes change, and even if its good can create problems and challenges which confronts the status quo. The baby boomers create societal challenges that influence change. When there is a sudden decrease in the population it brings implications for society and social change. If there are not enough people in an area to fulfill the roles social institutions must change.
