Autism Spectrum Disorder Autism gets its name from the Greek word “autos,” meaning self. This referred to an isolation or disconnect from the rest of the world. Many individuals who have been diagnosed with Autism spectrum disorder have been described as withdrawing from the exterior world to their own world.
