According to statistics, the majority of people enjoy scary movies, including novels. People enjoy the thrill and suspense movies covey. They enjoy the goosebumps crawling up their skin and they also like the adrenaline pace throughout their entire body, they like the excitement that it causes. But do they know how the author creates such suspense? Imagine you’re walking in the streets, and out of nowhere you feel a strong energy take you right into a specific place. In that place you meet someone that could kind of predict your life, how would you react to it? In the story of “August Heat” by W.F Harvey, he creates suspense by James and Mr. Atkinson having coincidences in visions of them two meeting each other out of nowhere. Some words that were included in this inscription was “In the midst of life we are in death.” Not only in this part, but the whole tombstone creates suspense because it’s rare for a stranger to come up with a random name and not only that but to also sense or feel someone’s death. To conclude, the author creates suspense by putting James and the man together. The author tries to show frightening parts to make reader want to expect more events in the story. As readers can see, there's many parts where the author tries to create suspense but in the suspenses above we could tell there are the main ones because the author explains more about it than the other ones. But, my argument here would be about my suspenses because the ones i’ve talked about show the real importance of the story.
