When it comes to both attitude and behavior, both tend to have a great impact on our lives and on the type of person we are and want to become. What exactly is attitude and behavior? Attitude and behavior are characteristics that reflect onto each other. Attitudes can predict what ones behavior will become and the theory of planned behavior explains how that is possible. Many things can influence ones attitude and behavior, such as emotions and environmental factors. Attitude has strong associations with behavior only if the measure of attitude corresponds to the measure of behavior. In terms of the action involved and in terms of the target at which the action is directed. Key words: Attitude, behavior, measures of attitude, 1. Opening paragraph: How attitudes form, change and shape our behavior Attitude is the way of thinking or feeling about someone or something, typically one that is reflected in a person 's behavior. Some affective components in a person’s attitude involve a person’s feelings and emotions. It is held to some feature of the individual’s When looking at a specific object, that can bring forth an old memory. That memory can be good or it can be bad, but the individual’s behavior will reflect on what it was just with a quick glance and the answer will be seen on the individuals face. This also shows that attitude can predict an individual’s behavior just by the way an object is perceived or an action has taken place. If an action occurs and it is not something that is habitual, then this too can predict what ones attitude will become. Just as one’s health can become a predictor on how that individual’s behavior will be influenced. These are how both attitude and behavior have such an impact on our everyday life. It has an impact in everything we do, say, and

"The behavioral view is defined as the psychological perspective that emphasizes the power of the environment to influence behavior." (Zimbardo, page 17) The behavioral view is often referred to as behaviorism and was developed by psychologists who disagreed with the cognitive view. Instead of looking at the mental processes, behaviorists look at humans externally by observing the effects of people, objects, and events on behavior. The stimulus-response connection, developed by behaviorists, explains human behavior by stating that each response has a stimulus. An example would be a loud noise (the stimulus) causing a person to jump (the response). True behaviorists claim that thoughts, feelings, and motives do not play a role in determining behavior. Thoughts and feelings are not the cause, but the result. B. F. Skinner is quoted as saying, "The crucial age-old mistake is the belief that…what we feel as we behave is the cause of our behaving." “Just as emotions provide valuable information to the self, emotional expressions provide information to observers, which may influence their cognitions, attitudes, and behavior” (Van Kleef, Heerdink, and Van Den Berg, p. 2, 2014). A positive feature of attitudes is that they are subject to change over time. According to Van Kleef, Heerdink, and Van Den Berg (p. 2), “We define attitudes as temporary evaluations that are constructed based on a combination of stored representations of an attitude object and information that is currently at hand. This working definition explicitly allows for changes in attitudes over time while acknowledging that certain attitudes have a relatively stable basis in a person’s memory system” (2014). This conceptual definition of attitudes and attitude change is that though attitudes can change based on new information or a different emotional reaction, they can also stay the same or relatively similar to their primary state. Overall, the information that individuals perceive through emotions can influence their attitudes, which can then alter their attitudes towards certain
By assessing the personal meaning of events, emotion comes up. What’s more, positive emotions have not only a role of marking happiness, but also a function to continue
Attitudes can be formed in a number of different ways. The three component model consists of Affective, Cognitive and behavioural based attitude experiences and has been a main area of focus among social psychologists. These three components are held within most attitudes, however not all attitudes are equal and different experiences can change the ...
A person’s attitude is mostly what everyone around him or her will view them as. From this they can tell many things. Whether it is if the person is funny or down to earth or even irresponsible. Many times people change personalities often and they would be classified as being a dynamic type of person. A person who is doesn’t change is classified as being a static character. Willy, from Death of a Salesman written by Arthur Miller, is a static character for his inability to grasp reality, his poor parenting and his constant lying to his wife.
An example of an attitude could be the feeling towards abortion. A person could repudiate abortion as a birth control measure, while could favor it in cases of rape. An example of a trait could be honesty; a person who is honest that believes that taking $5 left unattended at work is wrong, and that would not lie in their taxes to obtain a refund to obtain a higher refund. In the first case the attitude, feelings and thoughts, toward an action are variable and contingent to the situation. In the second case, the tendency is the same regardless of the

...ses influences behavior. The evolutionary perspective explains, how evolution explains mental processes. The psychodynamic perspective assumes that human behaviors are driven by unconscious forces. The behavioral perspective is primarily concerned with learned behaviors. The humanistic perspective emphasizes on personality growth. The cognitive perspective examines our internal thought processes. Finally, the sociocultural perspective compares human behaviors to other cultures, and social settings. There are many ways to examine human behaviors, and these perspectives can help to explain these behaviors, and come up with possible solutions.
In this essay I will describe the four major theories of personality and identify the advantages and disadvantages of each. The first major theory of personality is psychodynamic which was created by Sigmund Freud. The second major theory of personality is trait or five-factor model which is the most scientifically supported model. The third major theory of personality is humanistic, and Carl Rogers was the best known humanistic theorist. Finally, the fourth major theory of personality is social cognitive which was developed by social learning theorists.
This perspective suggests that much of human behavior is mediated by thought processes like memory and attention, belief systems, attitudes and language. Belief systems, value systems, thought processes, reason and intelligence have a significant impact on why we do the things we do and act the way we act. The cognitive perspective suggests that much of human behavior is significantly influenced by cognitive processes and is thus amenable to our thoughtful control (1). Cognitive Psychology revolves around the notion that if we want to know what makes people tick then the way to do it is to figure out what processes are actually going on in their minds
Behaviorism and Social Learning Theory are two theories that have been used to describe the development of personality. While Behaviorism places a strong focus on how the environment shapes our personality, mainly through the process of negative and positive reinforcement, Social Cognitive Theory goes one step further by including how one’s thoughts and perceptions combine with behavior and environment to influence personality. Although there are some limitations in both theories, I feel that self-efficacy, self-esteem, and habits are valid parts of the two theories, playing a large role in how personality traits are established and expressed.
“A learned predisposition to respond in a consistently favorable or unfavorable manner with respect to a given object,” (133, Kiniki & Fugate) stated that an attitude is as applies. Attitude in the work field is something that affects you every day. It reflects who you are as a person and who you are in a group of people. How you decide to be and act is how it is going to affect you. If you go into work with a negative attitude about your job then chances are you are going to find reasons not to do anything or even enjoy it, leading you to be nasty or rude to those around you who enjoy their job and the environment that they are in.
Personality Psychology is defined as “The scientific study of psychological forces that make people uniquely themselves”. (Friedman&schustack, 1999) Personality is a pattern of ones cognitions, emotions and behaviors. Among many other patterns, personality is relatively composed of attitudes, motivations, relationships, beliefs, and defenses. Every individual has a human body, mind, thoughts and feelings. In some manner individuals are all s...
