One of the best things about Atticus Finch is his ability to care for others no matter who they are. To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee is the most read classical novel. Atticus Finch is a single father with two kids, he lives in a small southern town called Maycomb. Atticus is defending a colored man accused of rape, Tom Robinson. Atticus Finch is very faithful and brave this is why he should take a stand for Tom Robinson.
The first reason it makes sense for Atticus to take a stand is because he is very faithful. Atticus just lost the most important case he has ever and will have. Atticus says, ¨Not time to worry yet, Scout. We've got a good chance¨(Lee 293). This proves that even though Atticus and Tom just lost a case so obvious, he still has high hopes that they will win the appeal. Atticus still his beliefs that they will give Tom Robinson another chance to redeem himself. Scout said ¨Atticus assured us that nothing would happen to Tom Robinson until the higher court reviewed his case, and that Tom had a good chance of going free or at least having a new trial¨(Lee 293). It is highly possible that Atticus could have gotten hurt defending Tom. Atticus is a very risky man, he could have died defending Tom. As stated in the novel, ¨Atticus was leaving the post office when Mr Ewell approached him, cursed him, spat on him, and threatened to kill him¨ (Lee 291). This shows that Atticus could have gotten hurt, because everyone knows when Bob Ewell says something he means every word of it. However, Atticus could have gotten hurt and it was a huge risk but, he was very brave and he told Jem if spitting in my face and threatening me saved Mayella Ewell one extra beating that's something i'll gladly take. Atticus took a huge risk because Bob Ewell is a mean man that will get Atticus but, that doesn't stop him, he goes on defending Tom like a faithful/brave
