Cold war 1945, The United states are the first and only nation to use an atomic bomb weapon during the purpose of wartime. The dropping of the atomic bomb on Japan marked the end of World War II. During the 1940’s the United States have been already in the process of working on this atomic bomb. Particularly, the first test of the atomic bomb was dated July 1945, located in New Mexico, as a result of this, the outcome of the weapon with its power had an enormous result showing the strength what this weapon can portray. Truman speech was very detailed and impacted the emotions and convince the people of why the reason this action was taken in place. For instance, “ Sixteen hours ago and a American airplane dropped one bomb on Hiroshima… It had more than 2,000 times the blast power of a British ‘Grand Slam,’…” This has been the strongest bomb as well as the largest bomb ever used in the history of warfare, and Harry S. Truman refers back to an event that he knows his audience can relate another key point, giving an insight of how the bomb was like. A Cognitive meaning and emotive meaning is taken place when President Truman explains, “The Japanese began the war from the air at Pearl Harbor.” This struck the emotions of the people because of how devastating Pearl Harbor was. The impact that Pearl Harbor left the nation in the most devastating state. “With this bomb we have now added a new and revolutionary increase in destruction to supplement the growing power of our armed forces.” Referring back to this extremely important historical event. Under those circumstances, when the Japanese fighter planes attacked the American naval base lasting 2 hours; killing 2,000 American soldiers and sailors and additional 1,000 were wounded. Truman by the tone of his voice persuades the audience by the tone of the speech, “… recommendations to the congress as to how atomic power can become a powerful and forceful influence towards the maintenance of world peace.” Having this type of tone using those words ‘maintenance of world peace’ leaves the audience astound of this harmful yet it can maintain peace! It will have the nation all convened that by creating this atomic bomb and having dropping it on Hiroshima is the best decision the president has done. Because of the Pearl Harbor incented and how it affected many of the people the creation of this atomic bomb, Truman restates that this is a major achievement for the U.S.A.
