It is no longer common for athletic trainers to just get an athletic training bachelor’s degree. Originally, by making sure that your attractions to the field of athletic training are in good intention and that it is based in the reality of what the career actually entails. Also, understand that once you get in the field you may no enjoy the aspects that drew you to the field as much as you once assumed. This is normal and just because you thought you would enjoy it does not mean you have to stick with athletic training. Another necessity is to know what you want to get out of your undergraduate program and the aspects that make a good program. The atmosphere and experience you get out of your athletic training undergraduate program can have a huge influence on the rest of your career path, including if you stay in athletic training. Something else that is influential in athletic training is the level of education, outside certifications, and internships that you get. All of these things can allow you to get experiences and knowledge that will allow you to become a better professional in the field. Young athletes account for about 4 million injuries a year in the U.S. according to an article published in the Los Angeles Times (2010). US Today reported that approximately 1.35 million student athletes’ injuries were severe enough to send them to the hospital emergency department. Athletic injuries range from the simple ankle strains and sprains to more serious injuries such as: fractures, contusions, abrasions, and even concussions. The unexpected injuries can cause great physical and emotional challenges for these student athletes. Besides having to deal with the physical and emotional stresses they must also have to deal with the financial turmoil the injuries triggered. Recovering from sport injuries require more than undergoing rigorous physical rehabilitation. Physical healing which can take months is quite different from the mental and emotional healing which can take years to recover from.
During this class I discovered that this field did not reach my expectations. Kinesiology and Health Promotion is a major for students that want to become gym or health teachers rather than becoming an Athletic Trainer. Once I discovered this I started researching and found out if I want to become an Athletic Trainer I would have to enter the College of Human Health Sciences. Then I started using secondary research to answer my research question,"What kind of jobs are available with a major in Sports Medicine right out of school?" I was able to discover that there are many job opportunities that I am able to go into, “Athletic trainers work in a variety of different professional settings, including: Hospital emergency departments, Intercollegiate athletics, Performing Arts, Physician offices, Professional sports, Sports medicine clinics. This fast-paced, challenging profession provides an opportunity for people entering the profession to engage in optimal patient care while working in a dynamic medical environment”. A person needs to work out almost 3-4 times a week to keep them in shape and to stay vigorous. “People exercise for many different reasons such as; to socialize, to relax, controlling body weight or for fun” (MNT). The most common myths surrounding exercise are that an individual can consume anything after working out for 30-45 minutes and that low intensity workout burns more fat. Some sports psychologists work with professional athletes and coaches to improve performance and increase motivation. Other professionals use exercise and sports to enhance people’s lives and well-being. While finding ways to help athletes is certainly an important part of sports psychology, the application of exercise and physical activity for improving the lives of non-athletes is also a major focus.

Introduction Concurrent training can best be described as an attempt to combine endurance training and strength training within a training programme in an attempt to improve both strength and endurance simultaneously. When thinking about the term interference, we can sometimes associate it with conflict between two or more identities, strength training is often used due to the highly anaerobic nature of the activity, in order to attain certain physiological outcomes that may be beneficial for sports performance (Harries, Lubans & Callister, 2012). In team games, strength and conditioning coaches utilize exercises in a gym setting, which they hope will bring about adaptations in muscle size, strength and hypertrophy. To do this coaches must come up with suitable training programmes that don’t cause unnecessary fatigue to the athlete and suit the requirements of the sport and what the technical coach wants. In rugby there are a lot of areas of the training where there are demands for anaerobic and aerobic exercise; so the ability to perform well in both aspects is desirable (Impellizzeri, Rampinini & Marcora, 2005; Maud, 1983; Morton, 1978).
DISCUSSION: This study investigated the barriers and enablers of physical activity in various workplaces. Thematic analysis that ensued provided relevant clues into understanding workers’ plight in the workplace with regard to actively participating in physical activity. Sedentary behavior settled in with time, given the amount of hours workers spent at work daily. It was equally important to bring into light factors that influenced workers behaviors so they could inform recommendations about physical activity for workers’ morale, motivation, and keeping healthy.
