Athena was the daughter of Zeus and Metis, she was also the Hercules half- sister. She was the goddess of reason, arts and literature, and intelligent activity and her powers were especially used in the defense of Athens. Her powers were very limited because her service to Zeus, she will only act with his consent and so what powers Athena had, Zeus also had. Athena’s originally was the goddess of womanly wisdom but that was soon expanded to the goddess of wisdom. Her symbol was an owl which is also called “the wise bird” Athena’s birth was very unique, when, Metis was pregnant, Zeus swallowed her and after a while, Zeus got a very bad headache which caused him to scream and yell loud enough for the entire world to hear. People believe that this could represent the mountain of Juktas which is on the island of Crete and appears to be a photo of Zeus who is lying on the ground and his forehead is supposed to be the highest part of the mountain.
