Assignment 1B Role of Integration as defined by PMBOK Integration management is the process that ensures the diverse elements of a project are well harmonized and coordinated (Fitsilis, 2008, p.379). Integration involves the trade-off on the competing goals and options to ensure that they exceed stakeholder expectations. When performed well, integration ensures the smooth running of a project up to completion. The role of integration includes planning the development of a project so as to create a coherent and consistent document. The second role is the execution of project plan which involves ensuring that the team follows the policies, strategies, and activities in carrying out the project plan. The process is important because it provides the base for managing and defining the scope of the project. The tools that may be used to collect requirement in project management include: • Interviews: When conducting the interviews, people who have expertise in the subject content are used since they have a knowledge of what the final product should contain. • Focus group: A team member chairs the meeting with some stakeholders where the discussion focuses on the needs and requirements of the project and the expected outcome. • Group creativity techniques is another tool for collecting requirements. It entails the generation of an environment where stakeholders discuss ideas of the project. In the process of discussion, the members become creative and therefore the requirements are captured.
