2-4 Dogfooding is the process of a company or person using a product they produce or promote for outside customers. Dogfooding in itself would not predict whether a product would be successful. People still have to have a desire to purchase the product, but knowing that the company, employees, or individuals advocating it actually use it gives credence to the company marketing it. A good example of dogfooding is Apple, Inc. The employees in the Apple stores use the products and software to help in the operations of the store. An example of when dogfooding would not predict product success would be in the marketing of software. Most companies use the software they develop, but that doesn’t mean it is a successful product. This is an example of dogfooding as they used both methods they are promoting in their text revisions. It shows us a couple of different ways to use both methods.
2-6 Whiteboard was used by the author, the developmental editor and the production editor in their meetings to list their agenda, tasks and loose ends. At the end of the meeting, the whiteboards were saved and placed on SharePoint for use in future meetings as minutes. By implementing this method, the information they all shared would be accessible for future use.
Lync was used to allow all the members of the team to meet and communicate. It is a desktop application that enables you to send messages, use voice and video, send files, and share your desktop as a read only or allow others to control your keyboard and mouse.
Lastly they also used SharePoint. At the end of their meeting they saved all the Whiteboard documents to SharePoint. It manages and incorporates Excel and Word documents. They can share, organize, store, and access information from almost any device. It also provides them the capabilities to create sites where they can collaborate on webpages, documents, lists, calendars, and
