My favorite television show is Futurama, it was created by Matt Groening who also created the show The Simpsons and it’s also produced by Groening, David X. Cohen and Ken Kessler. In the United States, Fox aired the series from March 28th, 1999 to August 10th, 2003 before ceasing production; Futurama was then aired as reruns on Adult Swim and Cartoon Network from January 2003 to December 2007. It was revived in 2007 as four straight-to-DVD films; the last of the four was released in early 2009. (Futurama. Internet Movie Database) Comedy Central entered into an agreement with 20th Century Fox Television to syndicate the existing episodes and air the films as 16 new, half-hour episodes. Comedy Central began airing Futurama on January 2, 2008, and had new episodes starting on March 23, 2008. (ITZKOFF, DAVE pg 1) The first new episode that premiered on Comedy Central was called “Rebirth” and poked fun at FOX for cancelling them. Futurama has six seasons already and a seventh in production and due to premiere. Futurama won the Guinness World Record for "Current Most Critically-Acclaimed Animated Series" in 2010 and has been nominated for thirteen Annie awards and eight Emmy awards, winning seven and three respectfully. (Futurama. Internet Movie Database)
When Futurama was first aired on FOX it received generally low ratings due and didn’t accumulate a strong fan base until its re-runs were aired regularly on Adult Swim. Not many people knew about the show because it wasn’t an instant hit and FOX constantly moved its time spot, making it hard to follow and sometimes even dropped the show for long periods of time. Although it wasn’t popular on FOX and some fans of Futurama don’t even know it was ever on FOX, it wasn’t completely unknow...

Younger generations and the more vulnerable in society can be influenced in avoiding peer pressure, but for the individuals filled with wisdom, the shows can reflect based on American modern society. Everybody Loves Raymond and Full House are great shows who faces similar life obstacles a typical person living in the US has today. As a result, most modern family comedy sit-coms are reflecting our society’s generations and the more vulnerable. Based on the success of early family sit coms, American’s adapted to a fast pace lifestyle with the help of modern
That 70’s show was probably one of the funniest television shows that have aired throughout the late 90’s to early 2000’s. The show no longer air new episodes however, old episodes are occasionally aired on ABC family and sometimes MTV. The cast did a great job basing the show on life in the 70’s even though it was really produced in the 90’s to early 2000’s. The characters from the show are still making headlines today for example Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis are reportedly engaged and actress Lisa Robin Kelly past away due to multiple drug intoxication. It would’ve been awesome if the show comes back even if they change it to live in the 80’s or 90’s.

NBC network’s The Office is definitely a show that a lot of youth watch nowadays or well, used to at the least. Some people are amused by the show’s style of humour, however many are not so entertained. Personally, I find that the style of humour in this particular show is used to depict hegemonic relationships and stereotypes that exist in modern culture. Thus, for this specific reason, I will attempt to apply and analyze the theme of cultural hegemony to The Office.

Jerry Seinfeld's television sitcom, "Seinfeld," which went off the air in 1999, is still one of the most culturally pertinent shows today. The show dealt with little nuances of American society. A puffy shirt, for example, could be the main subject for an entire show. This show, which was derived from Jerry Seinfeld's observational humor, was voted as the "Greatest Show of All Time" by TV Guide in 2002. According to the show's official website, the ratings for the syndicated version of Seinfeld are ahead of many of the current primetime comedies ("Seinfeld" 2/5).

Family Guy, an animated sitcom about a New England family and their everyday dilemmas, is a way for viewers to see the comedic side of a dysfunctional family. The Griffins consist of Peter and Lois, the patriarch and matriarch, and Meg, Chris, and Stewie are the children(Family Guy). Every character is different from the next character. They are also weird in their own way. The television show itself displays feminism, structuralism, and gay and lesbian criticism. Each character in the show also displays those criticisms in a certain fashion. Family Guy can be offensive to viewers with its satire, and the way the show delivers its message can make the family and the other characters in the show seem dysfunctional.
Over the years, several cartoon series have been chosen as the object of study for different researches. The world most famous animated family, The Simpsons, has been studied by Meskill (2007) focusing on their discourses about education. The author concluded that the satirical portrayal of schools in The Simpsons- teaching, learning, administrating- is brilliant in the cleverly suggested conflicts it portrays and provokes. These contradictions, according to Meskill, can illuminate the humanistic side of the society in which we live and help to improve its institutions. Another cartoon series that has received many critiques is South Park. Schulzke (2012) analysed the episode “The F Word” to illustrate how the show uses sophisticated strategies

South Park, though an animated television series, is notoriously known for being a ball of undermined commentaries and criticisms. South Park’s unrestricted and haughty demonstration of the world issues has captured its audiences ever since its very first episode, that summer of 1997. Just recently, it has capped its 20th season back in December 2016 marking 19 years of successful television run. South Park has broke boundaries in terms of censorship and has become a medium for revealing societal stereotypes on ethnicity and race. Its blatant use of hostile terms and tackling of sensitive subjects hold its uproar every single episode. Through the strategic use of satirical elements that come in both non-verbal communication, as seen through the use of visuals and the verbal communication in the form of the language utilized in the character’s dialogues; South Park provided its audiences with its brazen views on racism.
The fans entrance into the story of The Family Guy was only symbolic, two performances of Family Guy Life! were limited only to reading old episodes aloud by the cast members from the stage. The audience did not acquire any new knowledge about the story nor took part in the show so unique and personal experience of a viewer may be arguable. However, when it comes to extractability, which means merchandising, the variety of products is huge: adult costumes of each character, masks, an interactive playset, belt buckles, mugs, t-shirts, board games, wristbands and numerous other gadgets will not let you forget about for favourite show.
