Artificial sugar/non-nutritive sweeteners are “synthetic or natural food additives that offer sweet flavour but with negligible or no calories per serving” (Whitney). Artificial sugar exist in numbers and are known dietary supplement as approved by The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) such as; “Acesulfame Potassium (Sunette/Sweet one) use in baking and cooking. Aspartames (Equal/Nutrasweet) use in both cold and warm foods, and loses its sweetness at high temperatures. Saccharin (Sweet 'n' Low) use in both hot and cold foods and precaution are made for pregnant or breastfeeding mothers to avoid this sweetener. Sucralose(Splenda), Neotame (made by Nutrasweet) and more recently Stevia” (“Artificial Sweeteners and Diabetes”).

The most successful of these is a chemical called aspartame, marketed under brand names like NutraSweet or Equal. It is this sweetener that is found in many so-called diet drinks and foods. “Diabetics and people who are trying to lose weight” are particularly attracted to these artificial sweeteners because of their “low calorie content” (Vendryes).
Artificial sugar as a sweeteners has attractive benefits than regular sugar because, they “add no calories to diet” (“Artificial Sweeteners and Other Sugar Substitutes - Mayo Clinic”).
In addition, only a fraction is for use for sweetness. Weight watchers who are trying to maintain their figure may require a moderate amount as these sweet alternatives helps to cut calories from cookies to iced tea. These alternative sugars replace foods or beverages containing added sugars and high fructose corn syrup with an equally sweet, zero-calorie option can help you get the sweetness you crave while potentially saving your waistline. Consumption of artificial sweeteners beneficiates the teeth where oral bacteria that once cause sugars stuck to your teeth producing acids that had contribute to tooth decay and cavities.
