As AI systems are continuously updated, they develop great potential in dealing with problems and making a good decision by considering all the alternatives. Currently, there are AI industries developing machines that would have a positive impact on people’s jobs and lives. Studies have shown that artificial intelligence has changed the way we live and work because it motivates people to work productively in every organization. They are valuable tools that changes society for the better. According to How Robots & Algorithms Are Taking Over (2015), “While these machines cannot think, per se, they can process phenomenal amounts of data with ever-increasing speed and use… among many others” (Halpern, pg.1). Once artificial intelligence was created, they strive to imitate human behavior by thinking and acting like them to perform repetitive tasks. While teaching and training a person how to do specific tasks takes a long time, an AI machine can learn very quickly. This saves a lot of time for the organization. In addition, artificial intelligence is a social good that benefits from decision-making processes. Even though androids are simply machines, it is important to have human rights that will keep them safe. According to Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? (1968), “He saw the laser tube in her dimly outlined hand; Roy Baty had slipped it to her… Roy Baty, in the other room, let out a cry of anguish” (Dick, pg.89). In this book, people are taught that they should never express empathy towards androids because they are not human at all. When Rick Deckard was ordered by Phil Resch to hunt and kill all androids because they are dangerous, he realizes that is not his true intentions. While Rick Deckard is doing this for financial gain, Phil Resch enjoys the sight of ending the lives of androids. In this particular scene, Rick Deckard successfully tracked down the missing androids and killed Mrs. Baty effortlessly. Her sudden death made Roy Baty extremely depressed because she was the love of his life. The word ‘anguish’ evidently shows that androids have feelings for the ones dearest to them. Due to the fact that humans do not see androids as an equal, they are being mistreated unreasonably. This law should be enforced because it protects all androids from harm. A lack of human rights for artificial intelligence gives people the opportunity to abuse machines to their heart’s content. All three of these points defy important facets of humanity: natural creation through fertilization, developing from a child to an adult, and expressing compassion. However, the androids do not have control over any of these shortcomings: they function this way because humans created them with these limitations in place. The main character and android bounty hunter Rick Deckard begins to empathize with the androids because he sees that, although they were programmed to lack empathy, the androids continually express frustration towards their inability to experience life from birth to death and to empathize. In a scene near the beginning of the book, Dick depicts an android named Luba Luft standing, entranced, in front of a painting of a young girl - sitting naked on a bed, her hands clasped with a shadow stretching out behind her. Painted by Munch and titled Puberty, this painting represents to Luba everything she cannot experience: all the emotions and experience that come with growing up. In the same scene Luba says “‘There’s something very strange and touching about humans ... I really don’t like androids...’” (Dick 133 - 134). She goes on to explain to Rick how she has spent her life trying to imitate a “superior life-form” (Dick 134).
