The human mind is an interesting thing, it can produce works of great wonder, it can imagine, it can reason and it can make sense of complex phenomena that surround it, such as politics or the economy. But, can the same be said for Artificial Intelligence? Can a robot, equipped with a sense of awareness and an ever growing base of knowledge achieve all those things? Better yet, can an AI be called into existence without at least looking at some of the problems inherently linked with intelligence that surpasses that of humans?

First, is there a chance that an AI with sufficient levels of intelligence may become hostile to its makers. And second, can the human species survive in a world completely operated by intelligent machines – in other words, how will human life advance when all of its challenges have been solved (Thompson, 2013; Kelly, 2012)?
The first question is one of great importance, mainly because it implies that the development of AI is a factual reality. If, and when an AI is developed, how will it affect society is unclear. On the one side are those who would argue that an AI can be created and controlled in such a way that will bring tremendous benefits to humanity. The proponents of AI claim that a system that is continuously improving itself and is able to effectively learn and adapt would create prosperity, it could cure almost every disease and stop hunger, poverty, war and other plagues of the human race (Thompson, 2013; Kelly, 2012).
However, on the other side stand those who argue that a self-sustaining, constantly developing AI must reach a point in its development when it realizes that the only impediment to its survival and prosperity is humanity. From Levy’s view on today’s version of AI technology, Jastrow’s prediction about AI evolution is not going to happen. As computer intelligence does not aim to recreate a human brain, the whole idea of computer substitutes human does not exist. Also, Levy said it is irrelevant to fear AI may control human, as people in today’s society cannot live without computer intelligence.
Artificial intelligence has been changing the lives of humans for years upon years now. It seems as though not a year passes without some sort of technology system coming across an unpredicted hurdle and overcoming it. These machines continue to outperform humans each and every day. But how will the future of such technology affect the lives of us human beings? However, many individuals believe that the use of artificial intelligence would bring positive results. Despite its potential, artificial intelligence technology would not be beneficial for society because human intelligence is hard to mimic, it would cause a threat to mankind and decrease jobs.
The official foundations for "artificial intelligence" were set forth by A. M. Turing, in his 1950 paper "Computing Machinery and Intelligence" wherein he also coined the term and made predictions about the field. He claimed that by 1960, a computer would be able to formulate and prove complex mathematical theorems, write music and poetry, become world chess champion, and pass his test of artificial intelligences. In his test, a computer is required to carry on a compelling conversation with humans, fooling them into believing they are speaking with another human. All of his predictions require a computer to think and reason in the same manner as a human. Despite 50 years of effort, only the chess championship has come true. By refocusing artificial intelligence research to a more humanlike, cognitive model, the field will create machines that are truly intelligent, capable of meet Turing's goals. Currently, the only "intelligent" programs and computers are not really intelligent at all, but rather they are clever applications of different algorithms lacking expandability and versatility. The human intellect has only been used in limited ways in the artificial intelligence field, however it is the ideal model upon which to base research. Concentrating research on a more cognitive model will allow the artificial intelligence (AI) field to create more intelligent entities and ultimately, once appropriate hardware exists, a true AI.
Artificial intelligence has come a long way since the first robot. In 1950, Alan Turing of Britain publishes, Computer Machinery and Intelligence. This book was proposed to be the birth of artificial intelligence as we know it. The first robot that presents the usage of artificial intelligence was built in 1969. The purpose of this robot was to try out navigation using basic tools such as cameras and bump sensors (Marshall 371). Since then, we have made a million robots way better than this one and we’re going to continue doing so. While the world advances, so is technology. It’s slowly progressing and become better and more reliable. Artificial intelligence is a certain type of technology that is resourceful to our nation. We are using it in the medical field, it’s been helpful to military forces, and it’s helping our world become a better place.

Nick Bilton starts “Artificial Intelligence as a Threat” with a comparison of Ebola, Bird flu, SARS, and artificial intelligence. Noted by Bilton, humans can stop Ebola, bird flu, and SARS. However, artificial intelligence, if it ever exceeds human intelligence, would not be stoppable by humans. Artificial intelligence has become a big controversy between scientists within the past few years.
