Every day computers are capable of doing new things. Even though computers have helped us a lot in our daily lives, many jobs have been lost because of it, now the computer can do all of the things a man can do in seconds! Everything in the world relies on computers and if a universal threat happens in which all computers just malfunction then we are doomed. Computers need to be programmed to be able to work or else it would just be a useless chunk of metal. And we humans need tools to be able to live; we program the computer and it could do a lot of necessary functions that have to be done.
Whether you’re a student, gamer, physicist, accountant, or even a newborn baby; computers play a very integral role in all our lives. However, most people seem to take them for granted. Even though computers have only been around for about a hundred years, it’s hard to believe we once lived without them. So, how is that we went from computers the size of an apartment to computers that fit in a watch? Transistors!
Computers have been an indispensable aspect of life for what seems forever. But, this was not always the case. All of the things that seem like they are natural components to a computers interface like a mouse, keyboard, and the internet were just toys for tinkering about 30 years ago. The man who made the first computer controlled it with just a series of switches and displayed data on a few labeled LED lights. Since the invention of the electronic computer inventors have constantly been pushing forwards on every front making them faster, smaller, and less expensive.
Through this, life is longer sustained, but modern life itself would not exist without some AI programs today. Several AI programs control the stock market, and the military has countless uses for it, and we even rely on it at home. AI has advanced greatly since it began, bringing neurology with it, and modern America could not function today without it. ‘Computers are nothing to be afraid of’. An idea clung to like a religion by IBM promotional people in the late 1970’s.
Microprocessors unified the technology on one chip while reducing the costs. Microprocessor technology has been the most important revolution in the computer industry in the past forty years, as microprocessors have allowed our consumer electronics to exist. Prior to the revolution in technology that was microprocessors, making a computer was a large task for any manufacturer. Computers used to be built solely on discrete, or individual, transistors soldered together. Microprocessors act as the brain of a computer, doing all mathematics.
Hardware architectures have been constantly evolving since the last 40 years and sooner or later saturation may start. The number of transistors cannot keep increasing forever. Even though software has evolved, it’s still not up to pace. There is a dearth of programmers trained to design and program parallel systems. Intel recently launched Parallel Computing Center program with the main purpose as “keeping the parallel software in sync with the parallel hardware”.
Research about Artificial Intelligence Factors “For many centuries, one of the goals of humankind has been to develop machines. We envisioned these machines as performing all cumbersome and tedious tasks so that we might enjoy a more fruitful life” (Artificial Neural System 1). The Artificial Intelligence has brought a revolution and elevated technology to a very advanced level. The AI is also a part of Computer Science that add a smart brain by reactions and explanations to machines. Scientists are trying to improve intelligent machines each day to enhance and facilitate their living by new technologies and inventions.
Virtualization has come a long way from when it was found. In the 1960’s IBM had a huge range of systems. Every generation passing brought along a long different system then the previous generation. As this kept it harder on the user to keep their current system without buying a whole lots of parts that are needed to keep up with the new systems. The computers of that time were only able to run one thing at a time.
If each robot is specially set up to help with, for example, kidney transplant, the robot would be capable of being an expert and learning how to make these procedures more efficient. Some may argue that robots would be inadequate in the operating room because they may not recognize certain situations. How will we know what these systems can and cannot handle until we try? Scientists now are formulating a plan to program these machines with knowledge that would easily be retrievable. The scientist will word situations in a certain way so the robots can easily identify the information they need to solve the problem (Masci).
We can learn to adapt to Artificial Intelligence and use it to our advantage. The initial impact of artificial intelligence on society will be negative and may cause a collapse of society. However, if humans can adapt to the changing world we will become significantly more advanced as a species since we can augment ourselves with AI. The fear of AI overtaking humans will be dismissed if the humans become the AI by integrating our brains to use AI. One day we might look back and think of the constant routine of selling most of your life’s time, so we can stay alive as barbaric.
