While some schools offer art classes to their students, the classes are not always mandatory. Some teachers and parents think schools should make art a mandatory class. They think it will teach the students the skills as if a regular class would, for example, geometry and biology. Also, the skills to cope with attention span and with social awkwardness. Some parents, teachers, and students also think it’s a waste of time and money to have art as a mandatory class. Mostly because of the lack of interest the students will have. Even though some think art is a waste of time, Art should be a mandatory class because It helps children's attention span, it helps with social interactions, and It helps stimulate the brain.
First, Art should be a mandatory class because It helps student's handle their attention spans. One of the problems facing students, teachers, and parents over the many years have been an increasing number of young adults and children having Attention Deficit Disorder. (Paxton 3) It has become a problem throughout education and many parents and teachers are well familiarized with the symptoms that come with having an attention disorders.
