Everyone has been to a state or county fair to enjoy the different roller coasters, the greasy butterfly chips or elephant ears, visiting the animals, only to leave that night with ringing ears from all the excitement. Of course I love all the greasy food, my fair favorite is onion rings and a polish sausage from the Richmond Family Red Barn. Nevertheless, I do enjoy a day where I can relax on the alien spaceship where it travels so fast you can climb up the wall like Spiderman. However, I digress fair is full of fun and excitement and often just a one day excursion, but for me I call the Armada Fair my home. It is home in the sense that I’m up at the crack of dawn with butterflies in my stomach nervous for the day ahead. It is the place that …show more content…
Including the Armada Fair has its share of issues in the past especially in rabbit showing. Rabbits are part of my home, they are a massive part of my life and one of the reasons I have learned to hold my tongue. Last year, the Armada Fair hired some very young ARBA judges for the open class day. Mind you my Lionhead rabbit, Onyx had won best of breed on Thursday. So on Saturday, these judges believed that Onyx had deviated from the Standard of Perfection. Thus disqualifying him, allowing the rabbit who was 2 pounds overweight to win best of breed which was disqualified on Thursday. It was a moment where I was left confused and heartbroken. Personally, it was almost like I was kicked out of my home being left on the street trying to make sense of the world. But fair at that point didn’t feel like home. Moreover, I learned that not every day is your day. That people’s subjectiveness on objective ideas is considerably different in that we have varying perspectives. Moreover, I learned to know when to hold my tongue, especially when competitions don’t go my way. Simply being angry and jealous towards the best of breed’s owner’s feelings was not alright, especially when she had been disqualified in the past for varying
What is home? Home does not necessarily have to be a specific place it could also be a place that you feel safe or comfortable in. From the early 1500s to the late 1900s, Britain used its superior naval, technological, and economic power to colonize and control territories worldwide which affected how most of these people's thoughts on what home is. In “Back to My Own Country” this story is about a girl that moved to london at a young age and was forced to change her morals and beliefs to try and seem less than an outsider to the community. The second story “Shooting an Elephant” is about orwell, a sub divisional police officer in Moulmein who was hated by large numbers of people and didn't feel welcome where he was and later was forced
Although the Chicago World’s fair of 1893 only lasted 6 months, it had an enormous impact on the city of Chicago, its people, and indeed the entire country. Up until that point in its history, the US had done nothing on the scale of the world’s fair, and was regarded as a country of barbarians and cowboys by much of the world, especially Old Europe. The fair was a perfect way for the US to disprove this. In building the fair, they would be placed in direct competition with France, who had built a magnificent fair only a few years before. If Chicago could at least build a fair on par with the Paris fair, it would prove to the world that the US was a cultural, military and political force to be reckoned with. Because of the fair’s gigantic scale, it became a microcosm of the conflicts and the tenor of the times. In effect, the fair was the turning point between the old Victorian days and the modern era, technologically, culturally, politically, and in the hearts of the people of the US and the world.
Each person has a place that calls to them, a house, plot of land, town, a place that one can call home. It fundamentally changes a person, becoming a part of who they are. The old summer cabins, the bedroom that was always comfortable, the library that always had a good book ready. The places that inspire a sense of nostalgic happiness, a place where nothing can go wrong.
In 1893 a world fair was held in Chicago Illinois to celebrate the 4thcentenniel of Columbus discovering the Americas. The exposition displayed grand buildings with beautiful architecture, hundreds of exhibits ranging from exotic tribes of Africa, to new inventions, expertly constructed landscape, and astounding attractions such as the first Ferris wheel. The fair lasted for six months and had over 27 million visitors, including ¼ of the American population.
Every year I get this feeling. The knots in my stomach are pulled tighter every time I pass through the narrow rock arch labeled with an aged sign reading, Welcome to the Delta County Fair Grounds. My eyes peer into the distance, and like every year, the park is full of commotion and energy. Kids swinging on the swings, teenagers showing off their new school clothes while sitting on the chipped green tables eating mazzo dogs, and the various types of food stands, complete the atmosphere of the Delta County Fair. The fair is a place where parents enjoy themselves by spending quality time with their families; it's an ending to the summer and a beginning to a new school year. Entering such grounds would usually make a person feel serenity and excitement, but it is a whole different story when I drive under the rock arch entryway.

In the annals of World's Fairs, the 1901 Buffalo fair is listed, as a matter of record. However, it is one of the lesser-remembered fairs. This is not due to a lack of planning or physical appeal, but rather to the fact that on September 6, 1901, President William McKinley was shot and killed at the Temple of Music. This was the kind of event that is so infamous and carries such bad press that it condemns everything it touches, from the setting, the surrounding events, and the people involved, to the same black blanket of notoriety. Due to the President's assassination, the popularity of the Fair spiraled downward. Despite the deploring of the Fair, however, it was home to some remarkable buildings.
At first glance you would think that home would mean where the athlete lives. But the narrator makes it seem like home could be heaven because when the narrator states “Shoulder-high we bring you home” (ln. 6). The narrator is talking about the athlete dying and being brought to heaven which is everyone's “home” in the end.
I have been to fair every year of my life, creating life long friends that I anticipate seeing the whole year up to fair. I think that the atmosphere is what I love the most. Everyone is happy and
The word ‘home’ is something that is often misunderstood. Home makes up your identity and not many people know that. Therefore you ask me, ‘what is home?’ Home is not just in your house. Home is a place that surrounds you. It’s you environment and cause for emotions. Your home is where you are with the people that surround you (peers, family, and strangers), as well as cars, houses, stores, and/or toys.
Finally, you should sort out your wardrobe before the event. Each fair can have different approach to dress code. You should check the website if there are any specific requirements to ensure you don’t stand get turned away from the door.
One of the themes I liked the most about the story is the meaning of the word “home”, and it can have many different meanings depending on each point of view. In my opinion, home is the place where we are raised, and even though we can end up living in another city or country, the feeling of belongingness should be attributed to the place that made us who we
What does home mean to you? Does it signify security, contentment, or perhaps relaxation and comfort? Your home environment is just an extension of you and your family’s unique personality. You can do what you please in your own home, without fear of rejection or judgment from outsiders. You can have a garden, or even paint the walls fuchsia, if that’s your thing. The fact that you can decorate your very own space is a great feeling.
“Home is where love resides, memories are created, friends always belong, and laughter never ends (Robot check).” A place becomes a home for me when I am around all the things that I enjoy and love. For example, when I am around everyone that I love, I enjoy a peaceful environment and the beautiful landscapes around me. The interpretation of home for me is not a physical thing that I see or that I can remember or even certain thoughts that I can relate, but it is a sensation that overcomes me when I envision being in the comfort of my own home. However, I know that this is a feeling that is calming to my soul and it quietly reassures me that I genuinely belong in a place where I can be free from people constantly judging me.
I like to say I have two homes; one in the arms of my family and close friends and one in the arms of nature. The best thing about it is that there isn’t one physical location. I will always have a place that I consider home and my home will change and evolve as I do. Merriam-Webster defines “home” with six phrases, most of which talk about a physical location and a particular setting with a certain group of people. However, I define home as where I feel relaxed and comfortable, where I can be understood, and where I am in harmony with my surroundings. Home is where I learn about life and where I have found the meaning of life. Every significant event in my life or times when I have learned the most important lessons, I have been surrounded by family or the great outdoors or both. I can’t write my life story without talking about these experiences.
