Female pop artist in the music market today exhibit a wide range of ability, talent, and physical beauty. It is also safe to say that most of them have a large fan following. The vocal ability of some of these female artists vary; some artists have an extensive vocal range while some keep in minimal. All in all, the most widely known female artists in the popular music remain famous and successful by utilizing their talent to navigate specific spaces and platforms while engaging their fan base. Her voice and her higher vocal range reminded me of the early Mariah Carey. In the beginning of Ariana Grande music career, she was portrayed as a super innocent, young and sweet girl with a sweet voice. This is ironic because Mariah Carey was also portrayed as innocent during the start of her music career. Ariana Grande is still compared to Mariah Carey; she is often called an imitator who semi-replicates Mariah Carey’s sound and style. However, I do not think that Grande is entirely replicating Mariah Carey style but it is evident that Grande take inspiration from Carey. Nonetheless, Grande's voice is appealing and strong. Her public image and style has slight remained consistent until the release of her latest album Dangerous Woman. Her image switched to sexy from song lyrics to stage costumes. The songs from that album like “Everyday”, “Bad Decisions”, and “Touch It” are just some of the few songs that allude to sex which is starkly different than the music she used to sing about. However, she does not disappoint at bringing her signature voice and singing talent on any of the songs she records or features in. Also, one thing I appreciate about Ariana Grande as a performer is that she can perform well live; her voice is still strong and she still sings high notes, runs, and vocal improvisations just as well as she does on the recorded
