I think that anything that deals with homecoming needs to be abolished, gotten rid of, done, nothing. The second reason is because it just time wasting. My last but not least reason is that the cost of it is just too high.
The first reason that homecoming involvements should not exist is because it's all about popularity. Someone like me would have an unfair advantage because me, who is a nerd who is very antisocial, would try out, nine times out of ten I would not win. The other popular people would win by a landslide. Just because they are more well know. People wouldn't vote for a random person who they don't even know.
There is also another reason why homecoming should not be here is because bullying can happen during this process. Let's say I would be putting up a poster that i really work hard to boost me up so people can vote for me. The next day someone rips it off the wall and writes ¨slut¨ or ¨bitch¨ just anything along the lines. That a form of bullying, I have seen that happen before during homecoming time. I also seen it to the point that it gets violent and fights happen, it's just a lot of stuff that can easily be avoided.

Instead of doing work in class we are think of who to vote on. It does not matter who wins, all they get is a stupid title saying ¨oh wow i'm one of the most popular people in the school, clap for me.¨ It just does not matter, you could be learning so much more in class than this. It has no benefits in your career. It may look good in a resume but is not helping your career choice at all, just a waste of
Students in school typically work long hours in order to achieve high standards academically. Those who achieve the highest grades are honored with the title of valedictorian. However, the title has been under attack as students and parents call for the title to either be extended to more students or abolished entirely. In “Best in class by Margaret Talbot, Talbot claims that schools should keep the single valedictorian system, but reduce its overall importance; she claims that using contrast and selective presentation.
I believe this is valid because not everyone can be a headquarter in football you first must try out so if they allow anyone who wants to be one become one then they can get rid of valedictorians because then no one will be competing for it and everyone will be equal.
Imagine this, Friday night, bright lights, the smell of popcorn, your classmates in the stands cheering you on, and the coolest thing of them all, the name of your own school on your jersey, representing the whole school. Some schools think sports cost too much money, but being a student is harder than ever. You are being held to tougher academic standards-and so is your school and that's why it is more important than ever for schools to keep sports because private and club sports are too expensive for most families and sport programs in school can affect and improve academic skills.
Movies portray cheerleaders as the popular girls that everyone likes and aspires to be. But when reality hits at Salem High School, it’s a completely different story. Cheerleading was taken as a joke by the other athletes and even students. It was considered a hobby, but to me it was a passion and something I worked hard to be. Being on the cheer squad in high school was difficult to deal with in school because we were constantly being snubbed by the other athletes and students in our school ever since we were kids in junior high which should not happen because everyone has the right to do what they love and they should not be judged for it being different than everyone else. It was always us versus them up until my junior year of high school when we finally earned the respect of our peers.
By doing this, the school districts are portraying the message that cheerleading is a joke, and that it isn’t a real sport. It sets stereotypes for cheerleaders, and they have to work to overcome those stereotypes everyday. The school districts all over the US not classifying cheerleading as a sport are in the wrong. For several reasons, all school districts should recognize cheerleading as a sport.
Though problems exist, the true qualities of sports maintain the role they have in developing young ones. Varsity sports give great qualities of teamwork unity and give you an opportunity to step outside your norms and do big things. While there are alternatives to everything there are truly nothing better than putting that uniform on for the school you have put major time in for. We must not alienate a basic developing factor that has played huge roles in developing the future. Society must stay with what varsity sports stand for, and just sometimes accept that not everything goes in the way of individuals, but in the way that benefits all and work as one
Issues in Miamifield will not get solved unless the whole community is willing to help fix the issues. In addition, this is a huge problem because it is limiting students’ education. If a student wants to take an ethnic studies course instead of American history or literature the student should be allowed to because if a student is in a class that is interesting to them it will lead to the student to paying more attention and learning more in that class. In an article about what students wanted from teachers and what they wanted from their school the article stated “We asked students to describe a time when they felt in charge of their learning in school—when they were working not just for a grade but because they were excited and interested” (ascd.org). This is so important because it supports that if a student gets excited and interested about a class they will learn better. Also, the school mascot being a redskin might not be offensive to everyone but it is still offensive to some people. A school should be a safe environment where students come to learn and not have to worry about being
Why should 12-14 year old girls be able to wear their school provided cheerleading uniform to school? You open the closet trying to find something to wear to school, but then you remember that tight, uncomfortable outfit that you have to wear to school that day. Your cheerleading uniform! You want to run away but you already know that you have to wear it or face the consequences (even if that means getting kicked off the team!). Twelve through fourteen-year-old girls should not be able to wear cheer uniforms to school. There are many complaints about the uniforms that girls are forced to wear. Some complain that they are very uncomfortable especially during the cold and windy weather. It’s like they are in prison! Students have clothes that express them in detail, color, or even style. People should never be separated from what they like, and schools should definitely
As the stakes become greater with an emphasis winning championships, debates about the meaning, purpose, and organization of high school sports become more contentious. Historically, boosters who covet state titles and want high school sports to resemble big time college sports have dominated these debates, but many students, parents, teachers, and local citizens have different visions of what school sports should be in the
This may potentially add more integrity towards cheating in the class room by adding a sense of competition to classwork. A study compiled by an expert in academic integrity, Professor Donald Mc Cabe, conducted a survey of over 4500 high school students from across the nation. From this study of 24,000 high school students from 70 different high schools, 64 percent of students confessed to cheating on a test, while over 95 percent admitted to participating in acts such cheating on a test, plagiarism or collaborating on homework. High school football is not as simple as a topic as everyone brings it out to be. Even if you are not a professional player things can be quite dangerous, and kids could still get seriously injured or even die due to the affects football. High school football may bring in a lot of money, but it doesn’t even bring in enough to cover its own costs. Lots of people say that McKeel should have a football team, and it would be a better school because of it, but the truth is that McKeel should not have a football team.
I believe schools should not force students to participate in organized sports. Medical conditions, such as asthma, prevent students from being able to participate. Family situations may leave the student with no ride to or from practice. Students may not have time to be able to
Every freshman who plays football forever dreams of the day they become seniors so they no longer have to deal with hazing or initiations or even picking equipment up after practice. I was one of those kids who was tired of being an underclassman but when
When there are less kids, there is a greater opportunity for kids to be involved. They can be in several sports, performing arts, or any group they desire. I was involved in volleyball, football managing, basketball, track, cheerleading, softball, choir, and student council. I was always busy with projects or practices “promotes an overall feeling of unity and social solidarity (Schaefer 2016:18). Activities and “sports serve as a safety value for other participants and spectators, who are allowed to shed tension and aggressive energy in a socially acceptable way” (Schaefer 2016:18). At big schools, not every kids has a chance to be involved and so they have to get their anger out some other way, which can lead to bad things. Since I have been involved in many activities and had ways to relieve my anger I do not need another way; therefore, I have not gotten into bad situations. I am satisfied that I haven’t missed out on an activity that I have wanted to do because of my school. Sadly, this does not happen in all schools. Many large schools do not give the students the same chances because there is more competition. At these schools, kids have to compete to be on an extracurricular team. They really have to specialize in the organization or else they do not have the opportunity to be a part of the activity. Many have to specialize in this extracurricular activity
The homecoming is located in the north London and introduced in 1965. The boom site is considered as an image of the post war Britain, which was reeling from the economical and psychological cost after the World War II. The war has encouraged the disintegration of the class system and mutual distrust between the genders. the increasing social acceptability of contraception help to modify tradition of gender roles.
