Man has tried for centuries to do everything in his power to escape the influence of God in his life; the constant thought of what God said and what God wants is a thought that the human race has tried to remove from their daily lives. The thought that man will one day have to stand face to face with a Holy God and give an account of the things they have done in their body, is an event that man would rather not think about or discuss.
To fellowship with God would require man to come clean of his sinfulness and become obedient to what God has said in His Word and for selfish man that is a position that he is just not willing to assume. Like theists, they claim varying degrees of certitude ranging from absolute certainty to low degrees of probability. Many of the arguments then are not offered as disproofs of God but merely as evidence against the existence of God.”
There is first classical atheism. Classical atheism was found in classical literature where an atheist was described as one who would not deny the God of the Bible, but would deny the gods of particular nations. Therefore the Christians around the world who would not worship other gods were often called atheist by the false worshippers. The term atheist often carried with it a great rejection and often times persecution.
There is then dogmatic atheism which absolutely denies any existence, past or present of a supreme being. They do not believe in God as a Creator, a maintainer, and certainly not as a Savior. They have chosen the mindset of a fool and have denied that there is a God
There is also critical atheism that says that there may be a God but He has not yet been proven or demonstrated to them, and that no one can prove the existence of God
