Child labor started in the Roman Empire where fathers could kill and sell their kid legally ( Farrell 18). Later, the Industrial Revolution opened a period of the worst abuses of child labor. The poor people were crowned into apartments without running water and children had to work full-time. In the year 1989, the United Nations Organization adopted its Convention on the Rights of a child. The children are overworking (Hasnat par.3). Due to the scarring and harm from the often inhumane and negligent working conditions, children laborers are plagued with severe mental and physical handicaps. These children are forced into intense working conditions, often not receiving adequate food, drink, and sanitation while doing so. They have to do things usually adults workers do (Roggero par. 3). A second argument on why child labor should cease to exist is that it is extremely perilous. Child laborers often contract disease and different illness that vary in severity of the working conditions. “Some ailments seen are depression, lack of energy, irritability, anxiety and more.” (Sturrock par.3). Child labor is tough because the children have health problems. Most of the child laborers have poor health, for example mine workers. Many of them died young because of overwork, malnutrition and black lung disease. (Farrell 49). Due to the illegal methods in obtaining child laborers, child laborers often face harsh working condition away from society. Children are learning to take responsibility early, but it is not good. It can damage their way of behavior and thinking (Sturrock par. 5). If a child is taking responsibility too early, he or she might have development problems. Children should not take responsibility too early because it might too much for them to handle (Hasnat par. 2). It can damage their way of behavior. The children in some cases are earning direct incomes for their families, but they should not worry about money. The children are already overworked and miss their childhood (Sturrock par. 8). Due to the harshness of child labor, children should not worry about more problems, like their family income. The child laborers should not worry about their family income because they already have many problems (Sturrock par. 7). Children in parts of the world that uses child labor already have an excruciating amount of problems they have to worry about, let alone working as a domestic servant. The family finances are the problem of the parents. Children have the right to go to school.
