Standardized Tests
Standardized tests are the only way to get a college education in this age. These tests are supposed to have universities know a student’s capability, and how they are academically performing. When the truth can be more or less what the test conveys. The biggest problem with Standardized tests is that, schools have different teachers, and teachers teach in different ways. Meaning, some information can be missed or learnt differently than what the test needs you to know it. As Michelle Obama said “If my future were determined just by my performance on a standardized test, I wouldn't be here.”
To have a better idea of Standardized tests, we need to know why they were created. Some schools would give out free grades to students to give them an opportunity to get into a highly ranked college or university. A big problem came from this practice, when a lot of students enrolled in universities, they would have to drop out, as they are incompetent of scoring high. An example that I could give is from my father that told me “Standardized tests were created when a lot of people take up space in colleges and universities when they cannot deliver on what is expected from them. As I would go home, and eat lunch, then take a break until 4:30 P.M, I wouldn’t have much time to relax and study. Those tests only make life harder, and it doesn’t help students learn more. When what you are tested on is some twisted question only there to make you confused. Stress is a very serious matter in education, and can lead to serious problems.
