School Districts throughout the United States have debated whether to keep, or let go of sports. These programs cause superfluous problems for institutions. Since many student-athletes value activities more than academics, schools should suspend these pastimes in order to cut costs, allow players to focus on their learning, and to keep later start times.

Body Paragraph 1:

Schools have tough budgets to balance each year as they strive to meet the basic necessities for their classrooms; therefore, eliminating sports would help to relieve schools from this massive problem. In the article titled “Yes, It’s Time To Scale Back” by Amanda Ripley, the text states, “Superintendent Ernest Singleton made a bold decision. He canceled sports, all of them. By doing this he saved $150,000 in one year” (10-11). The article also explains that “Maintaining a grass field, can take almost $20,000 a year. New bleachers can cost half a million

It is easy to see that over many years, the idea of extracurricular activities has daunted schools due to the numerous problems they cause. Sports deplete a school's budget, lower student-athlete grades, and even decide when school starts.
