Many people believe that giant, man-like creatures called Bigfoots or Sasquatches exist in the dense forests and mountains of North America. However, these people could not be more wrong. For several years, many people who make regular trips through North American forests have claimed that they have had some form of encounter with a larger, hairy creature called Bigfoot. No specific scientific evidence, however, has proven that these creatures exist, so the only proof of a Sasquatch ever living is the word of an everyday person. Although many people claim they have had face-to-face encounters with a Bigfoot/Yeti, Sasquatches could not exist because they leave no solid scientific evidence to prove their existence and because nobody has been …show more content…
Ever since this first sighting, multiple reported Bigfoot sightings have occurred all over North America and even in parts of Europe. The most common description of a Sasquatch, another name for Bigfoot, is that Bigfoot is a hairy ape-like biped that stands nearly nine feet tall and weighs over six hundred pounds (Krystek). The name Bigfoot came about due to the creatures’ large feet. A Sasquatch’s foot can be anywhere from sixteen to eighteen inches long and seven inches wide, whereas the foot of a large adult male is an average of eleven inches long and four inches wide (Krystek). Sasquatches are most commonly sighted in wooded areas throughout the United States and Canada. The creatures are supposedly very elusive since they are not a common sight among woodland travelers. Seeing a Bigfoot is not going to be an everyday …show more content…
All of the supposed Bigfoot sightings and seizures of Sasquatches have been proven to be false with the use of DNA evidence and the analyzation of the photographs that claim they exist. Also, remains such as bones, hair, or flesh that were claimed to have originated from a Bigfoot have been scientifically proven to have actually come from regular, everyday animals (Crossan). The legend of the Bigfoot has been around for decades and is still believed in today. The creatures are characterized by their massive size as well as overall strength. Some people believe that nine foot beasts can actually exist in the wild for thousands of years without any kind of scientific evidence to prove it (Radford). The serious lack of hard scientific evidence including remains and an actual capturing of a live Sasquatch are why these creatures could not exist in today’s world. Nine foot, nine hundred pound, hairy, bipedal creatures would have, if they existed, been scientifically proven at this point in time, but since Sasquatches do not exist, no evidence could be found to do
The experience happens in the middle of the night in Orick, California when the encounter of Bigfoot took place, in the house of two men and their children. The house was surrounded by the forest, woods, and there were not many people around.
Sasquatch is an unexplainable phenomenon that allegedly lives in the northwestern region of the United States. Many people claim to have seen this beast. Most others believe it is just a prank. However, there is no question that the dense forests of Washington, Oregon, and British Columbia are said to be home to the mighty, ever elusive creature, commonly known as Bigfoot. The existence of Sasquatch is plausible because of the dense forests which are located in the Northwestern region of the United States. There is a mountain of data comprised of facts, conjectures, and opinions both against and for the existence of Sasquatch.
There are many stories, both positive and negative, regarding the Bigfoot in Native American culture. How the Bigfoot were viewed varies greatly with each tribe, from a “devil” to a “keeper of the forest.” What is clear though, before the Europeans began to settle the North American continent in mass, the Bigfoot were not reclusive. They interacted with the indigenous tribes and were a known tribe or society.
An orca, more commonly known as a killer whale, is currently one of the largest marine animals held in captivity. Countless arguments are being made, supporting and opposing captivity of orcas to be exploited as circus animals in theme parks around the world. Throughout recent history, Sea World trainers have been injured and killed by the orcas and the whales, and the whales themselves have been observed as severely depressed. If Sea World releases the whales, they would undergo an immense economic downfall and the whales would be too weak to survive in the wild if they were freed. Since the first Sea World park opened in San Diego, California in 1964, common questions have arose concerning the well-being of orcas in captivity, the dangers of humans training them, the physical capability of whales theoretically being released, and the psychological differences between whales living in the wild versus whales living in Sea World's confinement.
Bigfoot is, without a doubt, the most recognized mystery in all of North America. The apeike being has reportedly been sighted thousands of times since the beginning of the 19th century. According to eyewitness testimonies, Bigfoot, also known as Sasquatch, is a gigantic beast that towers at eight feet tall and weighs as much as six hundred pounds. Reports also say that the monster’s form is well built and usually covered in thick, brown fur. Many have asked if such a creature could possibly be roaming through the wilderness of North America and around the world, and the answer is yes.
This provides powerful insight into the role Bigfoot like creatures played in Native American cultures. Some tribes were not afraid of the creatures, considering them kind and helpful, while peacefully coexisting with them. Other tribes found them to be more violent and dangerous creatures. The fact that these tribes called the animals Stick Indians or Brush Indians seems to suggest that the creatures were simply other tribes they did not get along with opposed to a village of mythical creatures. Some examples of Bigfoot like creatures in Native American tribes include the Chiye – Tanka, the Lofa, the Maxemista, and the popular Sasquatch. The Chiye – Tanka was the Bigfoot like creature of the Sioux Indians (“Native American,” n.d.). This animal
Bigfoot and its related primates have existed in cultures around the world. In North America, the legend of Bigfoot is believed to have been part of Native American belief for hundreds of years. There are different names for this ape-like creature like Bigfoot, Sasquatch – the term Sasquatch comes from the meaning “hairy giant.”. Also, Bigfoot can be called Swamp Ape, and the list goes on. This questioned animal has appeared mysteriously in nature from time to time.

Throughout the 150 year history of Bigfoot, many concerns have been raised, the most in number being from Native Americans. The Karok Indians tell of an “upslope person” who lurks far up in the mountains (Gaffron, 22-24). Some medicine men have told stories of “snow-walkers” that haunt the Forrest depths (Short). The creatures North American habitat covers over 125,000 square miles of forest, contained in the states of Oregon, Washington, and California, constituting a large number of Native American tribes to encounter and frighten (Gaffron, 22). This phenomenon is not just a Native American one told by medicine men, and tribe leaders, Bigfoot plays an enormous role in the ancient folklore of such civilizations as, the Russians, Greeks, and Anglo-Saxons (Brunvand).
Bigfoot was first introduce to the world when the first ever sighting was apparently by a white man that came in 1811 near the town of Jasper, Alberta Canada where he found footprints in the snow. Bigfoot as been mentioned in many Native American legends before this sighting. Sasquatch stories are found among the Indian tribes in Northwest coastal. In some stories the creature may have been able to turn invisible due to its very little supernatural powers. The stories from Native American tribes are similar to other peoples stories except the creatures diet and activities. In some stories children were warned not to say the creatures name because the people believed the monster would hear his name and come and carry the person off. Other tribes had a different perspective of this hairy creature. Some believed that they were shy and would even take stuff that wouldn't belong to them such as a human wife, but they never did harm anyone. They also believed that the creature would help a person in need. In some tribes Bigfoot was considered a

Is Bigfoot really a mythical creature roaming the world? Nobody can answer that question, not if our scientist today. Bigfoot is a large, hairy, apelike creature resembling a yeti, there are found in Northwestern America. There is another name that Bigfoot is called and it’s Sasquatch. Some people believe in Bigfoot and try to find it. Others who think it’s a ridiculous idea to be searching for something that no one can find. There are others who are in the middle and others who just don’t care. There are evidence from films, eyewitnesses, photographs, hair sample, and footprints.

The theory of there being an ape like beast that walks through our wilderness all started with a 16mm film in Bluff Creek, California by Roger Patterson and Bob Gimlin in 1967. The video displayed a tall, hairy human like figure trolling along a timber clearing walking briskly away from Patterson and Gimlin. The film ignited a craze amongst scientist and viewers to go on a conquest to prove Bigfoots existence. The 1967 film was never proven to be a hoax or real evidence and still today is a toss up.
One of the most well-known urban legends told is the story of Bigfoot. Much of the research has shown that there are several names assigned to the mammoth ape. According to Napier (1973), Bigfoot would be the creature found mostly in Northwest America, Sasquatch would be a creature named in British Colombia, the 49th parallel in the north-west states of America and Northern California, and the Abominable Snowman, or the Yeti would be the creature named in the Himalayas. Of course, “Wild Man” and “Savage” have also been names used to identify the creature. There’s been thousands of sightings across the world, but there have also been many misidentifications where those who think they have seen Bigfoot have really just seen an ordinary animal or person. Arment (2006) states an individual’s perception may color the eyewitness account. Such misidentifications include: hermits, fugitives, refugees, bears, gorillas, and simply people making up stories or rumors. In addition to sightings, there have been photos, videos, movies, and TV shows that strongly indicates the possibility of the existence of this creature. Though there is much evidence from sightings, myths, and recordings that Bigfoot exists, there is also much proof that it could all be a hoax. Incorrect sightings have led skeptics to argue over the existence of this being stating Bigfoot is really just a fable. So one has to ask oneself, does Bigfoot really exist or is it just another urban legend?
