Back in September 26, 1934 there was a ship named the queen mary. The Queen Mary was in service for decades as both a World War III transport ship and a luxury liner. It wasn't intended as such at the time, but the Queen Mary was named "The Dark Harbor" during the war because of the color she was painted to make her stealthy in the wartime waters. In her time, the Queen Mary carried seasick sailors, destitute stowaways and wealthy vacationers. With this kind of history it's not surprising she saw her own share of deaths. In fact, there are so many haunting that some parts of the ship are now banned from people to go visit. For the paranormally curious there are still haunted tours of the cabins and halls that housed death. You can also lodge …show more content…

Mary Cassatt was most widely known for her impressionist pieces that depicted mother (or nanny) and child. She was faced with many struggles throughout her life and received much criticism, even after her death in 1926. She found it difficult to receive appropriate recognition for her pieces during her early career. Many were unaccepted by the Salon. Cassatt lived for many years in France after her successful career, which ended abruptly when she went blind. Her talent placed her pieces in many famous museums throughout the world and landed her name among the famous artists of her time. As well as paving the way for powerful women, like herself. In the 1880s, a new generation of social workers, led by Jane Addams, argued that providing education and opportunity was more important than preaching morality. In 1889, Addams and a friend established Hull House in Chicago, where they lived and worked among the poor immigrants they aimed to help. Addams set up a kindergarten, a day nursery, and an employment bureau for the poor. On the other hand, Sumner is arguing (logically) that social classes will always exist, but that some men only need a little help to become a part of a higher class. He argues that “Instead of endeavoring to redistribute the acquisitions which have been made between the existing classes, our aim should be to increase, multiply, and extend the chances. The greater
Elizabeth Cady Stanton was born in November 12, 1815, in Johnstown, New York. Her parents were Margaret Livingston and Daniel Cady, who were important citizens. Daniel Cady, in particular, was notable for being a lawyer, state assemblyman, and congressman, who supported his daughter’s education. Although she was raised a strict Presbyterian in a conservative household, she had other influences in her family that were more radical. Her cousin, Gerri Smith, was a philanthropist,
In the famous story that we all were read as children, Mary Poppins, the author P.L. Travers depicts a story of an astonishing nanny who arrives at the Banks household to look after the four children, Michael, Jane, and the twins. Jane and Michael live pretty boring lives before Mary Poppins, the nanny, arrives. These two children are very critical thinkers, and it is apparent that they receive these traits from their parents, so because of this Poppins challenges their beliefs when she arrives. Through many adventures and the character of Poppins, Jane and Michael come to learn that there is not always an answer for all of their questions. To their displeasing, the nanny tells them that they have to use their imagination to come up with answers to all of their questions. Eventually, the children are able to discover their childhood, that seemed to be lost, once the nanny leaves. Throughout the book Poppins takes the children on journeys to help them discover what they are missing out on and help them regain that ability to make believe just as every other kid in the world does.
If you were in this situation how would you feel? If you're patiently waiting for your husband to come home and you give him a kiss as he returns. As he walks and talks little to you then he puts it out there like it’s nothing. Would you cry or would you be shocked? would you fight or would you fall ? tell how you would feel if you were like mary maloney were your husband's going to leave you like he left her. I think that mary maloney is innocent because her husband was a cruel and not very kind man. Not only was he having an affair with another woman he was disrespectful to her he yelled at her and how do we not know he wasn't abusive to her. His fellow officers called him a “lady's man”. I think that mary should not be convicted of murder.

The sun was really hot so the black man told him to give him his close so he did. Then the man tore some wood from the boat and made a shelter in the close. Phillip said she wears my mom but the man said she’s not here but she’s probably in a different life boat. Phillip was really thirsty, so the man opened a hatch in the boat and took some water out of a keg.
In accordance with the above excerpt, after the December 2007 elections, a post-election violence broke out due to so many controversies and allegations that the renewed mandate of President Mwai Kibaki had been stolen. The violence disrupted the status quo of peace which had been always there. A team of mediators, such as Kofi Annan pushed for a renewed constitutional review process. Part of the constitutional review was this bill that Martha Karua was presenting. She proposed that clause 2 of the bill amends section 3 of the then constitution which stated that “…subject to section 47, if any other law is inconsistent with this constitution, this constitution shall prevail and the other law shall, to the extent of the inconsistency, be void.”
