Gun Control The debate over gun control laws is a divisive argument in American politics. Americans should be allowed to carry guns in any area if they have a concealed weapons permit because gun control laws won’t stop violence or mass shooting; furthermore, stricter gun laws won’t stop criminals, and being armed provides citizens with self-defense. The problem is that Americans cannot carry guns in some areas even if they have a concealed weapons permit. Gun control will not stop criminals from committing violent crimes. Moreover, gun control will not stop criminals from acquiring guns illegally. The Second Amendment says that people have the right to keep and bear arms. Allowing people to carry guns in public areas with a concealed weapon permit can help protect people. If someone in the Paris shootings had a gun, he or she could have stopped the shooters, and they could have prevented so many innocent lives from being taken that day. In allowing citizens to carry guns in public areas, some mass shootings and violence could be prevented. People should be allowed to protect themselves and the ones they love. Also, the majority of people carrying guns with a concealed weapons permit are law-abiding citizens. If police officers can carry guns everywhere, law-abiding citizens should be able to carry a gun too. Additionally, criminals are afraid of people who carry guns. People who can carry their guns in public places will probably feel much safer. Also, carrying a concealed weapons means being protected. Gun control advocates think that the opposition misunderstands the Second Amendment, but the Second Amendment guarantees the right to carry concealed weapons.
