There are few subjects in the United States of America that cause as much debate as gun control. Both sides have a lot of arguments and a lot of passion, since many violent events have broke out with guns like the Sandy Hook shooting the whole argument has became a lot more heated.
Gun rights has been an issue since 1837, when Georgia tried banning handguns, but was later determined unconstitutional. The debates got even more intense in 1968 when the “Gun Control Act” was established. This act kept track of gun ownership by putting limits on sales and purchases of handguns. Again in 1986, The “Armed Career Criminal Act” started increasing penalties for people who either have or possess firearms and do not have a permit to own the firearm. In 1989 the state of California banned semi-auto weapons after a school playground shooting killed 5 children. Helping children is a very emotional subject and it is very hard to argue against, But the fact is, responsible gun owners should know to keep their weapons unloaded and in a secure cabinet when children are around.. If a child died because someone left a loaded firearm lying around the house the problem is not the guns it is the stupidity of the people! There are many cases where children were injured or killed in gun accidents because the gun owner did not put it in a safe place. Instead of worrying about whether we should or should not have guns we should point out how to have responsible gun ownership, which should also be taught to children so accidents like these could be prevented.
Again gun control is not needed since it does not stop crime from happening and also since it is not the guns fault it is the stupidity of people that are holding the guns.
