Choosing to Check Out When it comes to the topic of euthanasia, most of us will readily agree that it is a debatable topic. Where this agreement usually ends, however, is on the question whether terminally ill patients should have the right to choose their time of death. Whereas some are convinced that terminally ill patients deserve to choose their time of death, others maintain that there’s always a chance for survival due to incorrect prognosis from their doctors. Though I concede that there’s always a chance for survival, I still insist that the terminally ill deserve to decide their time of death because they don 't deserve to suffer. Manoj Jain, a physician, states, “In fact, several studies have suggested that when dealing with terminal illness, especially cancer, doctors are usually incorrect in their prognosis…”(Jain). The essence of Jain’s argument is that euthanasia has played a huge role by giving people the idea that their prognosis is not always correct so then these patients who have taken the “peaceful pill” could have a probability of living longer.
