To protect humans, many rich, big corporations take part in testing animals on their products before released to their consumers. The type of these test animals have to endure having a wide range of chemicals and products, which include drugs, vaccines, cosmetics, household cleaners, hair products, toothpaste, soap and bath products, pesticides, razor and hair removal, pet food, and packing materials. The safety testing of chemicals and consumer products account for only about ten percent of the use of animal testing laboratories. Science has already proved that animals think, experience emotion, and feel pain just like humans do (Romy). One of the main reason for the use of animal testing is due to some animal genetic make up being close to humans, such as chimpanzee’s. If chimpanzee’s, gorillas, and monkeys are so close to our genetic make up why use them for testing? Since they are so much like us, we are morally obligated to not test on them (Romy). The use of nearly extinct animals just weakens our food chain by deleting them basically more and more, and it creates more fear of humans from the animal. Why not just use a human to get the exact symptoms or reaction from a drug? Most of the medicines tested on these animals have not shown the same side effects or reactions as it does on humans. Most the time it produces the exact opposite reaction on humans rather than an animal. Even the screaming of torture coming from the animals, the disease that purposely kills them, and the use of the testing for unnecessary products show arguing for animal testing is absurd. Keeping the animals that are used for animal testing locked up in a cage is like slavery. The animals are slaves to big companies testing that are most likely not a hundred percent accurate with their results.
