Abortion is a controversial source of considerable debate in our nation and across the world, where many people feel strongly one way or another. When we discuss abortions we must remember that it is the important decision for the mother as well as the partner involved. This decision is nor black and white, its’ a critical one for future mother and father. It is an important life-changing the decision, attached to internal ethical dilemmas. This controversial topic has two sides; one group believes that it is an immoral act of murder while others believe that should be up to the mother to decide the fate of the unborn child. I had just gotten engaged to my now husband and a few months later we found out we were expecting. I was living at home with my parents and felt so much guilt that I had to share what I thought was wonderful news with my parents which in turn for the worst. My father was furious and wanted me to have an abortion and was ready to drive me to a local clinic. My mother, on the other hand, disagrees with this because of our religious beliefs but said nothing. As you can imagine I was at crossroads and knew in my heart what the right decision was but it was difficult that I didn’t have the support of both of my parents. In my heart and my fiancé, we felt that we decided to bring this child into our lives and didn’t matter what my father though. I’m proud to say we have a beautiful daughter who is our pride and joy and the light in our lives. Even though I have my own personal beliefs I will not impose those to anyone else and respect their wishes. A few years prior a college friend asked me to take her to a clinic and she had decided to have an abortion.
