Ryan Ciminski Coury World History-10A 09 September 2017 What changed. All states face an individual, group, or other state that is an adversary to their state's security, development, and values. In order to face these threats, countries must change in order to defend who they are and what they represent. This was learned on September 11th, 2001 when radicalist insurgents attempted and succeeded to make a permanent scar on the United States of America. The acts committed tried to make a direct hit on America's core values and identity. This was not only an attack on America, it was an attack on the civilized world. Horrifying videos and photos of violent and sinister acts that shook America to its core, a scene that is likely to never be forgotten, or would it? Time took the deadly sting out of the feelings felt on 9/11. With this, life resumed for the unaffected and they allowed themselves to be ignorant of the ongoing threat. All must understand the world still has a war on terror and the threat is still alive and well. Though memorializing this event may raise the public's awareness, it will never stop the threat. We must memorialize 9/11 in which we put all the country’s strength and effort to stop the threat. This would include increasing the United States Department of Homeland Security's budget, enhance tracking of potential threats, and possibly creating highway checkpoints to ensure the freedom of movement for all. We must memorize the lives lost but also, learn from it. America has a evolving threat that it must work diligently to terminate. A instagram post on 9/11, a moment of silence, or morning will never stop terrorism. We must evolve with the threat so it never, ever happens
