There are many arguments on this debate and why or why not getting a college education today is worth anything more than a high school diploma. It’s no secret that college is expensive, student’s spend thousands of dollars on college tuition and textbooks to attain their desired degree. With how much it cost to further our education, is college really worth it?

Becoming a better and happier person is pleasing for everyone. Even former President Obama says “‘Education helps us be better people. It helps us be better citizens. Learning and engaging in everything is a skill everyone should have, so like he said we should go to college to be able to do that. Additionally, education shows people to develop more intellectual skill and become more responsible (Pew Social and Demographic Trends). Thus said, being educated and smart is something everyone can do and college helps with that. Likewise, college can encourage someone to be more educated and happier. Reaching the point of happier and more educated is worth the cost.
Why should I go to college? That is a question that many people all over the US are asking themselves right now. Why waste four years of your life to go do the one thing that you have been waiting twelve years to get out of? In fact, there are a lot of reasons to go to college. College is one of the most important personal investments someone make. College has numerous benefits. Want a better job? Go to college. Want to make more money? Go to college. Want better benefits? Yes the price tag looks like a ripoff. Yes it will be hard to graduate. Many long hours of studying and doing homework. The rewards of it though, should certainly cover the high price tag, and your precious brainpower, even if it is just for the experience. The extra money that can be made with a college degree will cover the cost tenfold, and the experience will make you a much healthier, more mature person. It becomes clear that the question isn't why go to college. The real question is why not?
