the past couple of months, American States have been the center of attention for mass murder involving guns. Many United States citizens feel strongly about gun control and we should take action to ensure that gun control becomes more affective. Many Americans outraged after a recent Elementary School shooting in Connecticut. This area of Connecticut was supposed to be a gun-free zone. James Taranto, an official from the American Family Association tweeted that day saying, “Shooters attack an elementary school in Connecticut, another ‘gun free zone.’” After this happened, people began to take gun control much more seriously. Which is kind of true, but it kind of makes sense. Maybe there would be fewer mass shootings if there wasn’t a Second Amendment. We begin to think that maybe the man behind the gun is just trying to gain attention by creating these murders, which seems crazy, right? Most of these people ARE crazy though. The media makes these people famous for what they did when they shouldn’t be. We should definitely be more concerned about their well being and the availability of weapons to these people. We need gun control. Although many of us want gun control, the people that do own guns now, support the common gun safety laws. They do believe that we should have gun control laws, but they shouldn’t be as strict as taking away guns from the people who already own them. Even nine out of ten people that own guns now want criminal background checks for anyone that tries to purchase a gun. Seven in ten support banning gun sales to anyone under twenty-one.
