In recent news between political candidates such as Bernie Sanders, free university education has been a controversial topic. Primary and secondary education is offered for free all around the world. Education is seen as necessary. With higher education there is disagreement when it comes. Students must pay tuition to attend universities ,and they may take out student loans or grants. The state offers financial assistance to students and their families. In some countries higher education is a free because everyone has a right to attend. There are many pros and cons to free university education, but the cons outweigh the pros. Therefore, higher education should not be free.
A bead of sweat drips from my brow as my apprehensive fingertips struggle to navigate the worn keys of a dilapidated overused laptop in search of the next letter that will enable me to successfully complete this first essay assignment. I am overcome with anxiety and my heart begins to pound as the scrambled incoherent thoughts drifting around aimlessly in my mind begin to fade. The thought of trying to organize and articulate the ideas in my mind terrifies this private semi-introvert. The historical results of this author’s writing experience resembles the slaughter of General Custer’s regiment at Little Bighorn in 1876. Placing words correctly on an intimidating barren piece of paper has never been my strength.
This is a money-driven world, and college is not an exception for this. Starting from paying for every semester, books, uniforms, extracurricular activities, projects and whatnot, our parents and ourselves have to make big sacrifices to endure that. And somewhere around here, the debates about should this higher education be free started. If it would be free, wouldn’t than everyone go to college? The proficiency of the education will take a downfall, a lot of people will start going to college just for the purpose of going, just so he/she could have some fun, because that person didn`t know what to do after high school, maybe because all of their friends are going to college, maybe even because their high school sweetheart goes to college, so he/she can`t stand the fact to be
In the article “As He Promotes it, Some Question Obama’s Free Community College Idea” written by Joanne Jacobs on Feb 23,2015 goes in detail on Obama’s plan about community college being free and the pros and con , and what people think about it. Many of the people who think it's a bad idea are low income students' attending community college and then the people who agree with this plan are people who are most likely middle class because they're either professors and scholars who attend Stanford or Harvard. In this situation, I think it better to go with the people who are attending community and know how the whole business is of attending it and stick on their side not on a side where people who are attending already
How does the rising cost of college tuition affect us? Every year thousands of students attend a college or university, usually of their choice, with the goal of achieving a higher education and to better their future. The cost of attending college is too high and it needs to go down; there needs to be more scholarship and grant opportunities. The high cost of attending college is a major reason that students aren’t able to achieve higher education; others take this as a challenge and it is motivation for them to work harder to achieve their goal. One might ask why would someone want to spend money to receive more education and miss out on more years of work that they could’ve performed? For many, it is so they can receive more salary for the jobs that they will have later in life, also so that they can get training for their wanted career. The cost of attending college is high and continues to rise without indications of decreasing. The rising cost has many benefits such as earning more pay, but it also has its disadvantages such as the debt that is accumulated from student loans. Not everyone can afford to drop down thousands of dollars and attend school for a few more years. Students who wish to receive a post-secondary education must decide whether it is the right choice for them depending on their financial standpoint, meaning that they must decide if they have the resources to further their education.
A college education should be free because a better educated population could result in smarter decision-making at every level in society, student would be able to focus more on their studies,
Often, we wonder why we get told growing up, “you have to go to college” but is it really mandatory? What would you think if you got told you had to go after high school?
Education in today’s society has become an necessity, students are more focused on their academic to get better grades. Trying to become financial stable been a big problem nationwide. “ Many parents, teachers, students, and people wonder should college education be free or granted.”( Helen) From my point of view, college education should be free and paid for by the U.S. government. If this was taking care of by the government, us as students can focus more on our studies and will allow us to work harder in school. Education is something everyone look up too, but not everyone can follow their dreams because of financial problems. College education should be free to all U.S. citizens.
While the idea of free college is often seen as beneficial only to the wealthy, college should be free for everyone because going to college could once again be seen as a choice instead of a financial problem for many households, people could also better understand others that come from different backgrounds, and there are more
Clearly, the merits of having free higher education outweigh the drawbacks in immeasurable ways, benefiting the individual learners, states, and the nation at large. Having education in higher education free to all would ensure that every citizen get an equal opportunity in life regardless of their social status, it would allow people to concentrate on nation-building rather than loan payment after school, it would make the nation skill-sufficient and all citizens be more productive. Most importantly, education is a basic right that everyone deserves and money should not be a hindrance, thus, education should be free for all.
A college education is necessary today in society. Students can focus on their academics and try to get a high score. The cost of education for each student has become more difficult to afford. Thus, many students and teachers wonder if free college tuition must be granted. Free education must be responsible and funded by the U.S. government because it will help students focus on their studies, and encourage them to work harder in school. Even thought many people think that education must be free, it is very important for many reasons such as the economy, quality of education, and value of a college degree.
Yes, I strongly believe that college education should be free for everyone because Education is a basic necessity of our society these days. Free education wouldn’t just benefit one generation or one society but it can benefit the whole nation. If a nation is educated, then it can benefit the whole country and it can get better job opportunities for its citizens because in today’s world we can see highly paid jobs are knowledge based or require advanced technical skills. So in my opinion more educated nation would help remove all those flaws which are keeping country’s economy from growing rapidly. If the education is free in college then it can help a lot of those students who got good grades in their high schools but could not get into the college because of their financial situation. This way these kind of needy students who deserves to get a good degree and basically these students are future of America but they could not get it through
I chose this topic because education is all around me. I am literally surrounded by illiteracy. From the moment I leave my door, to the moment I return, I am able to witness illiteracy in my society. Therefore, I could connect well to this particular topic in detail. So many children younger than me, of my age and also people elder to me do not have access to education. Even though 86.1% of the world is illiterate (CIA World Factbook), the other 14.9% have absolutely no access to education!
