From the beginning of human existence, we have often looked to the stars for answers and guidance. As we look to the stars however, the dark void of space has always been a mystery waiting to be solved. As our species evolved, so did the capacity to further try and piece the puzzle together. From Galileo discovering new moons, to the United States sending a human to our own, little by little, we have gained vast information, which helps us gain a new perspective on “space”. As we have looked to the vast reaches of space, we have discovered millions of new stars, moons, planetary bodies, and even black holes. After looking at the website www.debate.org, the polls concluded that the best form of government is democracy. I agree with this premise for a civilization here on Earth, but I do not think democracy would be best suited for this exploration mission. The website listed the reason “it helps realizing ones mistake, and improving upon them,” which makes me think this is not government I need on my ship. Democracy took hundreds of years to get near perfect. It involved many revolutions, battles, disagreements, and it is still in the process of being perfected. In this expedition, I cannot afford any imperfection if there is to be any chance for survival; I cannot afford any disagreements or uprising. According to the site, democracy allows everyone to voice his or her opinion, and it is run by majority rule. Through out our history of government, there has been the issue of majority rule oppressing the minority, but it is an issue addressed in our constitution. However, our constitution applies to the U.S. citizens, so passengers from different countries would try to implement their own constitution, which would not work, stripping democracy to its foundation of minority rule. This being said, I think the correct government would be a monarchy. This monarchy will have a council similar to the UN in charge of assisting the monarch. I will be the first monarch in charge, and will be responsible for my ship, taking advice from my council, after I will train my successor to be fair and implement democratic ideas. In addition, I would use military force to keep my population in check, because I cannot afford any mutiny on my ship. If a crewmember decides not to do their job, he will be sent to a mandatory exile in which the passenger is placed in a simulation room. This simulation room will mimic the scenario of them entering a black hole. When they enter the
