IG: In what area of your life are you off course? (Question 1)
ME: The area in my life that I was off course is my grade from last semester.
IG: Would you say more about that (Expansion)
ME: Well I had four classes, but I was focusing too much on working because of money. I could not spend enough time on school, so I got F on English 1A.
IG: What self-defeating thought patterns of yours may have contributed to this situation? (Question 2)
ME: I missed more college class than I should.
IG: Uh-huh.... (Silence)
ME: I tried to manage my time, but I sometimes have an overtime. So, I worked on my homework in the midnight. I have morning class, and I over slept almost everyday.

So, I failed one of my class.
IG: What self-defeating emotional patterns of yours may have contributed to this situation? (Question 4)
ME: I get really frustrated when I missed the class.
IG: So, you just want to come to class on time?
ME: Well, not only that, but yes, I want to attend class on time. This is because if I missed the class, I have to study by myself, but I do not have time to study right now. That is why I want to attend the classes on time.
IG: That is true. So, what different emotions could you choose to get back on course? (Question 5)
ME: I could do the same thing I do in cooking. I live by myself, so I have to prepare my dinner by myself. When I cook dinner, I always choose what I want to eat. Then, I start cook something. I sometimes cook two different food same time. I can manage the work and school time, and I can work. My college degree is most important than my work. It is one of my best goal and I have to accomplish it.

ME: I do not ask my teacher for help because she do not trust me. I always turn in assignment late and I never come to class on time. I guess I do not have trust myself and others. It is like I admitted that I give up to get bachelor degree.
IG: You seem frustrated that you can not solve the problem with out help. (Reflective)
ME: I guess I need help from somebody.
IG: What different behaviors could you choose to get back on course to your goal? (Question 7)
ME: I could ask my counselor to manage my classes. Also, when I do not have time to do a homework, I could write down on my calender. So, I can manage my time by myself.
IG: That is great idea. What limiting core beliefs of yours (about the world, other people, or yourself) may have led you to adopt the self-defeating patterns that we’ve been discussing? (Question 8)
ME: This conversation has made me realize that I had more time to focus on school. Maybe I do not believe myself, even thought I had time to study little bit. I thought that I tried my best, but I actually I did not. I was go easy on myself, and I did not followed my goal. So, I failed my English
