Though not everybody would agree, I want to argue that sports drinks are extremely good for you and why it could be a good option if you’re tired of just plain water. One thing is that if you’re bored of the plain old water taste, then maybe some sort of sports drink could provide more flavor. Another thing is that some people think that sports drinks are terrible, but they really are not that horrible for you. One reason is because if you go and look at the ingredients in Gatorade for example the ingredients aren’t that bad it’s water based with sugar added in and some artificial colors. Another reason is that they have a lot more benefits than bad things in the drink itself.
The only two things that I think are dissatisfactory for you is not the sports drink itself, but if you have just unexciting, plain, old tap water it’s free if you want a sports drink it costs money. The other thing I think is horrible is the sugar because sugar can rot your teeth and have some other horrid effects if you have too much sugar or

Like for example, coconut water in a sports drink has a lot of benefits like it contains potassium, magnesium, copper and quite a few other benefits.
Now that I have given some background information on the benefits of sports drink, I will tell you why my sports drink is a good option. One reason is because it will cost less than other sports drink companies. The second reason is it will have less sugar the most companies and still maintain good flavor. The third reason is the ingredients will have lots of benefits to good health. The fourth reason is there will be no negative, unnecessary added preservatives to the drink. It's not that alternative sport drink companies are dreadful, I am trying to open up your eyes to something modern.
I have chosen to assess Gatorade’s new G Series campaign. It consists of three separate products that are each to be used at a certain point in athletic activity. The first is 01PRIME (Gatorade.com, pictured to the right), it is to be taken 15 minutes prior to activity and has components very similar to an energy drink. It is high in B-vitamins and electrolytes, it’s meant to give a burst of energy right before a workout or competition. The second product is 02PERFORM (Gatorade.com, pictured to the left), which is their original product they’ve been selling for 40 years. It is meant to be consumed during an activity. The only changes are the fancy new name and updated packaging. The third is 03RECOVER (Gatorade.com, pictured below), it is to be taken post-exercise. The product is high in protein and helps the body recover from its exertion. It is comparable to many other post-exercise protein drinks but it also claims to be the first of which that actually quenches your thirst. The audience Gatorade is trying to reach is athletes that want to maximize their effectiveness at their given sport. They are also trying to aggressively penetrate two new markets, energy drinks and post-exercise protein drinks, that they have not previously thrived in, using their flagship beverage as part of the campaign. This campaign is currently running and has been for most of 2010.
Caffeine is a mild stimulant that occurs naturally in at least 63 plant species. Caffeine can be found in the leaves, stems, seeds, and roots of these various plants. Caffeine is part of the methylxanthine family. It consists of a xanthine molecule with three methyl groups attached to it. Caffeine can be found in many products like sodas, tea, and coffee, but it also occurs in several other products such as prescription medications, diuretics, and pain relievers. Caffeine’s widespread use and popularity have caused many people to view the substance as an addictive drug. Thus making caffeine the most inexpensive and readily available drug known to man. Then on the other hand there are people who view caffeine as a helpful stimulant that increases the individual’s concentration and awareness as well as many other physical traits. The important thing to remember is that caffeine’s affects vary based on the person, the amount ingested, the frequency of consumption, and individual metabolism. There are many varieties of energy drinks to choose from, whether you choose Monster, NOS, 5-hour power or Rocktar energy drink you can always count on Red Bull. Dietrich Mateschitz the founder of Red Bull is a native of Styria located in Steiermark Austria (Foscht T, 2008). Dietrich studied trade and commerce, he also worked for Unilever and Blendax which are German manufacturer who makes toothpaste. Working with the company required a lot of traveling. While testing out various energy drinks, one in particular caught his interest named Krating Daeng. While testing the product he noticed that
‘’Glaceau’s Vitamin water currently holds a 17 percent market share in the energy drink market. Through our advertising campaign we will raise this by 8% to attain a 25% market share. We are currently the number 2 brand energy drink in the United States, with number 1 being Propel. Our goal is to pass Propel and become the number 1 brand energy drink in the United States. We will advertise to a previously unreached market of active consumers by focusing our new campaign during the 2012 Summer Olympics. We will create a buzz market by focusing advertisements around big-name Olympic athletes and their use of Glaceau’s Vitamin water throughout their training and competing’’ (Vitamin water - Marketing Strategy Plan, 2008).
Water makes up 75% of human body. It is the most important ingredient in our bodies. Today many people ignore drinking water and concentrate more into the carbonated drinks. One of the main reasons I would think people drink more carbonated drinks (such as sodas and sport drinks) is because of the way a company hype up their products and use their marketing strategies to influence people into buying them. Many benefits come out of drinking water. First, it quenches one’s thirst much better than any carbonated drinks. Second, it keeps one’s skin clear and healthy looking. In addition, it protects the human body from several diseases. Many people choose drinking sodas and sports drinks than water because water does not have much of a taste and carbonated drinks are flavored and tasteful. I guess I am one of those people who has being caught on to the hype of the soda companies. I do not really drink much water I would say I barely drink two cups a day, but I know the how good water is for my body. So I am modifying my behavior by adding more water to my diet.
So diet sodas are not the best soda in the world for you and these are some of the reasons I gave. Number one is because it has to many artificial sweeteners, which hurts our bodies not help them. Number two is it helps us gain more weight, instead of losing it. Last but not least, it gives people a greater risk of diseases and health risks. So although that diet soda seems good to drink just remember all the negative things that come from diet sodas and have a glass of water
Competition also presents itself in original sports drinks, such as Gatorade (Pepsi) and Powerade (Coca Cola). Furthermore, premixed alcoholic drinks like the Smirnoff range form part of the competition.
Soda can lead to physical and mental health issues, including addiction, obesity, cardiovascular diseases, and diabetes. Business Insider States, “Drinking too much soda for a long period of time can end up hurting your teeth as much as chronic abuse of methamphetamines or crack cocaine.” People should not drink soda because it leads to many different health issues.
Taxing sugary drinks has been a controversial national topic for a while now, most people can agree that the arguments regarding this topic started when New York City's Mayor Michael Bloomberg attempted to ban all outsized sugary drinks from restaurants and other eateries. This sparked great controversy and upset many people regarding Bloomberg and how he used his "power" as New York City's mayor to impose such a ban. Although Bloomberg's ban was not as successful as he wanted it to be, many states and people agreed with what he was trying to impose and started taking matters into their own hands. Cities and states started to slowly ease in their attempt to put a ban on sugary drinks and have people apart of their region follow their attempts. Like Bloomberg, these states are all correct; putting a tax on sugary drinks is a positive initiative that the United States government should work harder to impose.
The sport product life cycle goes through four very distinctive cycles which is introduction, growth, maturity, and decline. A great example of a product that is currently in the introduction phase would be something like Boost Oxygen. It is a can of oxygen that has 95% oxygen that is supposed to improve your performance. It is a new idea/product that is just emerging into the market. Then if the product would continue to succeed it would move to the growth stage. A example of something currently in that stage would be something like a nike watch. They have heavy competition, they are used to help pace your runs, time yourself, count the calories you burn and the amount of laps you do and is water resistant. The watch has been out for a while and has made is past the first phase and if it were to continue in its strides of success the next phase would be Maturity. I think that the Gatorade product symbolizes maturity because it is something that has been out for a significant amount of time. It has been very successful over the course over its lifespan. Gatorade have evolved with the times because they created bars, and shakes, not just the sports drink. They demonstrate a sense of maturity in their product, they have been around for a while and they will continue to be around for time to come. The final stage is for the product to decline. The iPod is steadily going under with iphones on the verge of take over. Most people would not consider this directly a sport product however I believe that it is because when ever I got to the gym of the running track I always see people with their headphone on jamming to music while they work out. I think that the tunes provide a sense of motivation for all diverse athletes. The iPod is something that is definitely in the decline phase because they are no longer new and they have watches and other gadgets to replace them. So iPods are on their steady spiral to
