Applied Pharmacology Question 1 One of the roles of the Therapeutic Goods Administration is classification of medicine based on risks associated with taking them among patients. The provision of medicines is also regulated under the processes of manufacturing and quality (Department of Health and Ageing 2011). The regulatory agency also ensures that the drugs passed as viable for supply are re-checked for compliance with health and safety standards and hence cannot be passed if proven hazardous for human use (Department of Health and Ageing 2011). The funding processes are also influenced by the Pharmaceutical Benefits Advisory Committee (Department of Health and Ageing 2011). The committee ensures that the industrial sponsors of drugs products, medical bodies and all the associated sponsors of either new or already operating drugs. Question 2 One of the issues currently impacting on the continued viability of the pharmaceutical benefits scheme is that there is increased expansion of the drug industries and this has caused the development of new sponsors (Department of Health and Ageing 2011). Through its regulation procedures, the agency has managed to put the lives of the citizens before any other issue and this has caused the agency to be regarded as one of the most feasible, talking that the lives of the citizens would never be put at jeopardy (Ghosha, Skinnera & Ferguson 2006). Question 3 This would involve the organization and the identification of problems to be solved by the drug policy (World Health Organization 2002). The situation at hand should be analyzed by all the concerned parties to define the areas or weakness and strength and hence define means of setting the goals and the objectives. and to issue recommendations for improvements. The committee was composed of 16 experts, including leaders in clinical medicinemedical research, economics, biostatistics, law, public policy, public health, and the allied health professions, as well as current and former executives from the pharmaceutical, hospital, and health insurance industries. The authors found major deficiencies in the current FDA system for ensuring the safety of drugs on the American market. Overall, the authors called for an increase in the regulatory powers, funding, and independence of the FDA. Some of the committee's recommendations have been incorporated into drafts of the PDUFA IV bill, which was signed into law in 2007.
In Australia the Government uses three methods to tackle drugs; Demand reduction, supply reduction and harm minimization. Needle and syringe programs are under harm minimization category. Supply reduction is focused on drug dealers and drug makers and is brought about by law enforcement. In the Demand reduction method it is tried to decrease the number of people taking drugs through anti-drug advertisements and campaigns, legislation, rehabilitation centers. On the other hand harm minimization recognizes the fact that drugs can never be eradicated fro...
To begin, the Federal Food and Drug Administration does not have the power to regulate supplements like it does with drugs. Once a product is out on the market, the FDA has to prove that it is dangerous or has illegal additives before it can be removed. The FDA has targeted around seventy tainted weight loss products after learning that they had been mixed with undeclared stimulants, diuretics, and antidepressants (Trebilcock 2). The Federal Food, and Drug, Administration is responsible for ensuring that the manufacturers of foods provide safe ingredients and the correct amount of dosages for their products.

This topic is very controversial topic because it deals with a growing body of citizens whose lives have greatly been affected by the United States government drug policies. In order to tackle the problem effectively, we need to look how it relates to economic problems, health issues, the criminal justice system and etc in our communities I look at bureau of justice statistics for statistics on National Drug Budget control, National household survey on drug abuse, prison statistics and book written by scholars on the issue.
Concerned authorities have focused essentially on criminalization and punishment, to find remedies to the ever-increasing prevalent drug problem. In the name of drug reducing policies, authorities endorse more corrective and expensive drug control methods and officials approve stricter new drug war policies, violating numerous human rights. Regardless of or perhaps because of these efforts, UN agencies estimate the annual revenue generated by the illegal drug industry at $US400 billion, or the equivalent of roughly eight per cent of total international trade (Riley 1998). This trade has increased organized/unorganized crime, corrupted authorities and police officials, raised violence, disrupted economic markets, increased risk of diseases an...

Drug use has been an ongoing problem in our country for decades. The use of drugs has been the topic of many political controversies throughout many years. There has been arguments that are for legalizing drugs and the benefits associated with legalization. Also, there are some who are opposed to legalizing drugs and fear that it will create more problems than solve them. Conservatives and liberals often have different opinions for controversial topics such as “the war on drugs,” but it is necessary to analyze both sides in order to gain a full understanding of their beliefs and to decide in a change in policy is in order.

medications is more than the act of getting drugs to a patient. The delivery of medication is directly tied to the charge for the medication. Thus the responsibility for charging or crediting medication belongs to technicians. This aspect of their job is strictly governed by federal regulations. These laws hold the technician directly responsible for the accuracy of a patient’s account’s charge and credit transactions. Because every dose is related to a specific day and time, when technicians credit they must apply that change to the corresponding dose. Assignificant as accuracy is to the patient’s account, accuracy in the making of their medications is even more important.

Multiple steps are conducted to ensure that medications received and administered to nursing facility residents are the intended ones. Nursing facility regulations specify that the facility “must develop and implement appropriate policies and procedures for accurate acquiring, receiving, and administering of all medications” (CMS, 2014). Before medications are packed for delivery, a LTCP employee checks that individual content of a package match the prescription label on the package (CMS, 2014). It is crucial for the nursing staff to be conscientious on the order submission cut-off time so the medications can be delivered as soon as possible.
When things are done in a way that have a negative effect on them or those around them, I feel the need to change these things. According to Ferri, drugs have affected many people and many societies at different magnitude (Ferri FF, 2010). Drugs have a negative effect on the health the person involved. In some cases, the effects are adverse and lead to loss of life. Some individuals have misled their families as a result of drug consumption. They have affected their family 's income negatively leading to poverty. As a result, it is advisable to take drug matter serious and put efforts into changing the current situation and aim at achieving a drug free nation. The young people should be educated on dangers of drug abuse so that through them, a generation free from drugs may be achieved.
Firstly, the main role of a pharmacist is to dispense medicines to their patients according to the prescription given. Before this, they have to ensure that they delivering the right drug, the strength and dosage of the medicine are appropriate, as well as ensuring the medication is safety and can work effectively in the human body.
