In this ever changing world of computers, where computer systems grow more efficient, intelligent and complex, I find the in-depth study of computing concepts not only appealing but also indispensable. As I move ahead in the future, I strongly desire for a program that would help me build a comprehensive foundation in the field of Computer Science. Within this field, I have developed a deep interest in the area of Theory and Computational Science. More specifically I find algorithms and theory of computation the most appealing areas due to their application in solving many real world problems.

My undergraduate course in the field of Electronics Engineering has given me a comprehensive exposure to all the core fields of computer science and mathematics. In my junior year, I participated in the prestigious robotic contest-Robocon 2007 with my peers. It was an eye-opening experience as I got an opportunity to manufacture a robot from scratch– from designing, assembling to programming. I was extensively involved in programming it, using C++ language for path planning and motion control. During this phase, I learned about different algorithmic strategies like Line and Sensor-based Algorithm, Fuzzy Logic etc. that could help the robot decide faster navigation and make correct decisions to avoid getting blocked kindling my interest in that area. Overall, it was a great learning and challenging experience as it gave me an insight into how the concepts of different branches of engineering culminate to make a robot and required a host of activities including problem solving, research and team-coordination to achieve our goal.

In my final year, I did a project named ‘Microcontroller Based Heartbeat Monitor’. The project strengthened my co...

...working and learning under the guidance of Professor Shaddin Dughmi and contributing to his research in areas of algorithms, I am sure, I will be able to exploit my potential to the fullest. I also want to be closely associated with Professor Ming-Deh Huang and his work in areas of computational complexity and cryptography to achieve excellence in my chosen area.

In conclusion, I want to say that I am fully aware of the hard work and perseverance entailed by this program and believe that my pursuit for knowledge, go-getter personality, aptitude and motivation will help me fulfil my commitments and work consistently towards my goals. Given an opportunity I want to contribute my own bit to the academic milieu at your department and earnestly look forward to being part of your esteemed Computer Science department as a stepping stone towards achieving my objectives.
