I started CrossFit in 2014, after researching the rehabilitative effects of the sport. I was experiencing uncontrollable bouts of anxiety, night terrors and anger that was negatively impacting my Army career. I went to a nearby CrossFit box and I signed up on the spot. I immediately became addicted to the intensity of the WODs, the extreme high I got from lifting, and the constant encouragement from those around me. I truly felt my life changing for the better! At one point I tore my MCL at work and I remember how badly I couldn’t wait to get back into the box and do work! CrossFit had become my place of Zen, my home, my own crazy little community. Application of career theories to my own life allows for analyzing past and future career decisions. Holland’s Theory of Careers states that one’s vocation is an expression of self, personality, and way of life. There is an indisputable and fundamental difference in the quality of life one experiences if they choose a career one truly enjoys, versus choosing a career one detests. A true testament to the validity of Holland’s theory, my job/career choices reflect my interests, as well as the evolution of my personality (internal self). My first job as a fine jewelry specialist and second job as a make-up artist echo my love of the fashion world. As I matured and became less fascinated by presumed “glamour” careers, I became captivated by physical fitness, nutrition, and medicine; I received my national fitness trainer certificate so that I may become a personal trainer. Nevertheless, my career decisions do not fit uniformly into merely one career theory.

At the same time, it has become more common for these people to understand the many components that create a strong body, and the factors that lead to health and wellness. There has been much research that indicated the several benefits obtained in people 's daily life, by incorporating the three factors that define health and wellness. These three factors include physical fitness, nutritional health, and mental health.
What did you notice about your moods/energy level when you did participate in physical activity?
I believe that fitness has a greater impact on you mentally than it does physically. Fitness releases chemicals that cause you to feel better instantaneously, improving mood for 24 hours. Fitness makes you more confident and improves your self-esteem, key for ridding anxiety and depression. Fitness makes you set goals for yourself, motivating you to improve yourself everyday. It gives you a boost of energy after, making you feel like you can conquer the world, or to just do your homework.
From the moment I starting my educational path I knew four years wouldn’t be enough to fill me with all the dimensions of the fashion industry. This led me to make my decision to apply for the M.S. Global Fashion Enterprise degree. When asked how this program at Philadelphia University would benefit me, I will begin by giving a background on my previous education. I started my undergraduate degree at Buffalo State College in upstate New York pursuing a Bachelor degree in Fashion Merchandising. After being in the program for a year I was confident in knowing I needed a change. My journey changed drastically when I moved down to sunny Fort Lauderdale, Florida where I transferred to the Art Institute under the same major. I will be graduating with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Fashion Merchandising come this June 2014. My experience at the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale has uncovered my love of education and research.
