While the experiences were particularly fascinating and rewarding, I want to explore working with human participants, which is aligned with my interest in cognitive neuroscience research in language. I looked for summer research opportunities, and was admitted to the National Science Foundation Summer Research Program taking place in University of Miami. I worked for the Social Cognitive Laboratory with Dr. Elizabeth Simpson, seeking whether neonatal imitation can predict children’s later social behaviors. The research enabled me to learn about eye-tracking, one of the regularly employed methods in behavioral studies, as well as the analysis of the neuroendocrine system through oxytocin. With my tendency to seek out opportunities, I soon learned about the psychology department’s chapter of the Psi Chi Honor Society and its psychology club – Club Psych. Now, not only I am a member of both the club and the honor society, but I am also the president of both. It has been delightful for me to serve within both organizations, where I took part in planning multiple events throughout the years, and I have learned much about psychology through both speakers and professors, as well as fellow psychology students. Each project has been unique and valuable, and it has enabled be to interact with a variety of fields within Psychology. In addition, to better prepared myself in order to be successful in research, I attempt to learn as much as I can during undergraduate about the field of psychology. Thus, I am taking the double specialization that both focus on research and human development, as well as auditing a graduate level statistic and method course.
