While this isn’t a perfect schedule, it shows what a day in my life can look like. Juggling clubs with academics and family time takes persistence, but it’s nothing I can’t handle. I’ve always had the problem of biting off more than I can chew, but I wouldn’t have it any other way.
However, this makes narrowing my intellectual interests into a few categories fairly difficult. What my schedule doesn’t show is the time I spend doodling in calculus, imagining what new poster I can design to hang on my wall. It hides the time in swim where I mull over the study I read on the therapeutic applications of light. It even conceals the diversity of music I listen to as I finish my homework.

Now, I know these seem broad, but I can see specific applications in each topic. The topic affecting life that seems to be overtaking my mind now is epidemiology; by studying the functions of diseases we are effectively figuring out how the effect on life is created. Following epidemiology is another one of my favorite subjects; economics. By studying the biology side and the economics side, one could genuinely see how life could be changed. I believe costs must be kept in mind throughout the process to make sure the work yields a usable
Growing up, my parents never expected perfection but expected that I try to accomplish my best. The effort I’ve put forth in learning has been reflected in my grades throughout my high school career. I’ve entered myself in vigorous course work such as AP Government and AP English to become well prepared for my college career, all while maintaining a 4.4 grade point average this year. Not only do I engage in AP classes, but up until this year I had no study halls. I wanted my day to be packed full of interesting classes that I would enjoy learning about. My grades and choice of classes prove the effort that I put forth in my learning. Working hard now can only pay off in the future. Learning now creates a well-rounded human being. Working to learn is why I am so dedicated to my studies now.
In order to be a successful member of an academic community, it is my personal belief that one must have acquired both the skill of time management and the characteristic of perseverance from their past educational experiences. It is my personal belief that, in my four years at Marvin Ridge High School, I not only acquired these traits but rather learned how to use them effectively. The employment of my time management skills allowed for me to take on the heavy workload of several Advanced Placement classes in my senior year while also granting me to opportunity to take part in many extracurricular activities such as managing the Marvin Ridge Wrestling Team, becoming a member of the Science National Honors Society, and working as a volunteer
Immigrants were desperate to find gold that could possibly change their social and economic statuses since they couldn’t go back home. (Discovery, describing word)
Why do these areas appeal to you? (up to approximately 100 words): Chemistry, Cognitive Science, Biomedical engineering
Over the summer I was very busy. I had U.S. History for six weeks but that didn’t strike me as a problem. What really caused a conflict was managing tennis, volunteer work, and ACT practice all at the same time. Over the summer I played over six hours of tennis every week. In addition, I plan to play five hours every week during the school year. Aside from tennis, I also volunteer as a tutor both in the ARC and in the Deerfield Public Library. I use my advanced math skills to help out my peers in the ARC and I use my brotherly skills to help little kids improve their reading skills. My volunteer work adds an extra two hours to my six hours of tennis and twenty hours of history. The last of my time usually goes to ACT preparation. As a junior,
I attend an apostolic ministry that believes solely in the healing power of God. We practice the laying on of hands, praying in tongues and everything associated with the new testament, and the book of Acts. We have many different types of people coming through our doors. There is a young man, David who suffers from mental disabilities and down syndrome. David loves to dance. Every Sunday that David and his mom attends church this one song “I will dance like David Danced” comes on, he jumps up and immediately dances around to church.
In high school, I began learning about common health problems in America. A lot of issues captured my attention. For example, I read about diabetes and obesity and their effects on the heart. These diseases are very common and often go ignored by those that do not face them. Learning about common health issues in America led me to study body chemistry. I learned about countless foods and products in our environment that can be harmful to us and that it is possible for these problems to be
The most adored section of science is the biological study. Biology is vital to the society because it studies life, living organisms and all the aspects that are concerned with their well being. This section of science also studies the origin, evolution, structure, function and the growth of living organisms. This study deals with different aspects of life. The most studied section is the genetics (Rebecca Johnson, 2006).
One of my favorite subjects would be any laboratory science such as biology, advanced biology anatomy and such. This subject has led me to thinking many things about the human mind and the body and how we have evolved to be who we are know. The subject has let my mind think outside the box and hypothesized about different subjects. Laboratory science has allowed me to explore deeper indie the humans mind as well s the body .as well as how we react to different situations. It has made me think how we all have evolved through all these years ,and how we are able to come up with new ideas an be able to have a solutions to the questions that we have.
However, around the beginning of my junior year, I sought to pursue the extracurricular activities I was passionate about, but never thought I’d have enough time to do. Originally, my thought process that doing more would become a stressful distraction from my academic goals kept me from trying new things. Nevertheless, I endeavored
I will my degree as an example, I am Human Science major with three concentration: HDFS, ADRS, and INTS. Human development and family studies (HDFS) main purpose are to understand human development and their involvement with society. HDFS is one of the interdisciplinary programs where you study what goes on in human brains, physical and social development of humans throughout different stages of their life. These stages start from a conception that is when the child was conceived till death and how the environment ( friends, family, community, and society) has shaped the person. These are some classes offered in HDFS: child guidance and parenting, contemporary family issues, multiethnic society, early childhood education, human sexuality, child development, lifespan development, psychology and,
In the spring of 2016, I took Calculus 1151 at Ohio State under Professor John Johnson. I was also in the final semester of my high school career at Metro Early College. I am petitioning for a retroactive withdrawal in Calculus in order to drop the grade I received for medical reasons.
The multitudes of extracurricular and academic activities I participate in were chosen because of their focus on my interests. I want to pursue a career in computer engineering and/or biological engineering. In order to help me accomplish this I carefully consider how extracurricular and academic activities will assist me in the future. Currently I am participating in several rigorous academic courses such as AP Physics C and AP Calculus BC to gear me towards a college environment, as well as a variety of clubs that focus on engineering and the sciences. A vast majority of the classes I take are advanced placement, which gives me the chance to obtain college credit before entering college. Advance placement classes also challenge me with faster paced instruction, which prepare me for the speed and difficulty of college level courses. I am currently taking AP Biology, AP Computer Science A, , AP Literature and Composition, AP U.S. Government and Politics, Pre-AP Chinese IV, and Honors Independent Research. In terms of extracurricular activities, I currently participate in the Stock Market Club, Science and Engineering Club, our school’s FRC team, and Chinese Club. In my free time I enjoy building computers, putting together parts lists for computers, programming, playing video games, and learning about various technical jobs and new computing technologies such as server administrator and quantum computing.
How willing am I to schedule my life to include time for study and preparation for class?
I choose biomimicry and my teacher asked if I was also research biofilia and talk about the difference between the two, because he did not know it himself. I learned so much about these two topics and found they were so interesting I continued it into the next project. For the next project we were look up a green super hero nad talk about what they have done for green design. I looked up a women who emphasizes in biofila design buildings. This allowed me to really dig deep into what it meant to design a building with biofila principles in mind and how a real architect puts those principles into
