Anti-Semitism
Hitler, he was an Anti-Semitist and so was all of his armies and groups. One of the most known is “The Nazi Party”. They are a group known worldwide for hate crimes such as killing Jewish people for being Jewish and killing blacks because they were a different pigment of skin. They are mostly known for killing and imprisoning the Jewish population. This wasn't a new thing to Hitler though. He grew up around Anti-Semitist such as his mayor, where he had been raised. So being Anti-Semitist was a common thing, and might of been weird to not hate the Jews where he lived. The Jews weren't considered people to him and his party though. Some of the Jews had become owners of large franchises and corporations, others found themselves running industries and banks. There is many other reasons and theories of why Hitler despised the Jews though. One theory was that a doctor named Eduard Bloch took care of his mother Klara Hitler and that Hitler blamed him for her death. Even though many Jews died. Many Jews also survived and lived on to tell their story. Hitler didn’t do the holocaust alone though everyone who believed that being Jewish helped kill Jewish people and Hitler and other solders made Jews kill other Jews and work for the Nazi army. The Jews were hated by various amounts of people and had to deal with the harsh environments because they did not have any way to protect themselves.
The Jewish were experimented on by various doctors and many died from these experiments and others lived for a short time with an illness and died shortly after. Many others had been tortured and others had worked till death. The Nazis had said at one point and also had it on a fence in one of the camps that “If you work you will be granted freedom.” Being free is what the Jews always looked forward to everyday and it never happened till Hitler died and the Nazi army had been no more. The book Mein Kampf written by Hitler, explicitly states Hitler 's hate for the Jews. This hate is what led him to believe that it was his responsibility to create a pure country out of Germany, by excluding the other types of races and focusing on the Aryan race, which is what he believed to be the superior.This idea would later result in in the Holocaust. Although Hitler was an intelligent individual the scientific and cultural basis he uses to prove his beliefs are completely foolish, and the facts that he uses to differentiate the Jews and aryan races do not add up. Hitler 's views eventually laid the foundations of anti -semitism.
Before the nineteenth century anti-Semitism was largely religious, based on the belief that the Jews were responsible for Jesus’ crucifixion. It was expressed later in the Middle Ages by persecutions and expulsions, economic restrictions and personal restrictions. After Jewish emancipation during the enlightenment, or later, religious anti-Semitism was slowly replaced in the nineteenth century by racial prejudice, stemming from the idea of Jews as a distinct race. In Germany theories of Aryan racial superiority and charges of Jewish domination in the economy and politics in addition with other anti-Jewish propaganda led to the rise of anti-Semitism. This growth in anti-Semitic belief led to Adolf Hitler’s rise to power and eventual extermination of nearly six million Jews in the holocaust of World War II.
Anti- Semitism exist not only because of the Jewish people but because of the other people and religions that seen the Jewish people as threat to society. Hitler and the Nazi party would not have been successful in the final solution and other persecution of the Jews if the German people did not already have a history of Anti-Semitism and embraced it’s prejudice.
There are many factors which lead to the Holocaust, however anti-Semitism was the greatest cause of the conflict. Anti-Semitism is the common name for anti Jewish sentiments. During Hitler was in power, anti-Semitism was used by the Nazis too carry out the Endlosung, which means “final solution to the Jewish Question” (“The Roots of the Holocaust”). However, anti-Semitism was not something that was created by Germany. Through centuries, Jews were a persecuted people. Jews have faced heavy discrimination throughout the Middle Ages, 1800s and mid early 1900s.
The Jewish people were targeted, hunted, tortured, and killed, just for being Jewish, Hitler came to office on January 20, 1933; he believed that the German race had superiority over the Jews in Germany. The Jewish peoples’ lives were destroyed; they were treated inhumanly for the next 12 years, “Between 1933 and 1945, more than 11 million men, women, and children were murdered in the Holocaust. Approximately six million of these were Jews” (Levy). Hitler blamed a lot of the problems on the Jewish people, being a great orator Hitler got the support from Germany, killing off millions of Jews and other people, the German people thought it was the right thing to do. “To the anti-Semitic Nazi leader Adolf Hitler, Jews were an inferior race, an alien threat to German racial purity and community” (History.com Staff).
The Holocaust ended 70 years ago, it involved over 11 million deaths. Hitler blamed all Jews for everything wrong with Germany. The Holocaust was the mass murder of six million Jews and millions of others by the Nazis. They were taken to concentration camps where they were treated like animals. Before the concentration camps, their human rights were taken, and also making them wear gold stars to identify the Jews better and faster. The Jews were taken from camp to camp until they finally arrived to the deadliest camp of them all, Auschwitz. The Holocaust also lasted 12 years from January of 1933 to May 8 of 1945. The German Nazi dictator utilized his power over the people using propaganda, eventually creating a sense of hatred towards Jews. After World War 1, the punishments of the League of Nations caused Germany to suffer. The Nazi party came to blame the Jews in order to have a nation-wide “scapegoat”. This hatred and prejudice towards Jews is known as anti-semitism. According to the Breman Museum, “the Nazi Party was one of the first political movements to take full advantage of mass communications technologies: radio, recorded sound, film, and the printed word” (The Breman Museum). By publishing books, releasing movies and holding campaigns against Jews, antisemitism came to grow quickly, spreading all across Germany. The Nazi Party often referred to the notion of a “People’s Community” where all of Germany was “racially pure” (Issuu). They would show images of ‘pure’, blond workers, labouring to build a new society. This appealed greatly to people who were demoralized during Germany’s defeat in World War 1 and the economic depression of the 1920’s and 1930’s. Hitler, along with Joseph Goebbels, used developed propaganda methods in order to suppress the Jews and spread anti semitism.
Jonathan Sacks said, “Jews survived all the defeats, expulsions, persecutions, and pogroms, the centuries in which they were regarded as a pariah people, even the holocaust itself, because they never gave up the faith that one day they would be free to live as Jews without fear.” The Holocaust should always be remembered because we will never forget what the Nazis did to the Jews! The German Nazis killed near six million Jews! The Holocaust needs to be remembered because of how many lives the Holocaust took, it happened only sixty eight years ago, and it could possibly happen again. The Holocaust was considered one of the worst events to happen in the world.
The Holocaust was one of the most tragic and trying times for the Jewish people. Hundreds of thousands of Jews and other minorities that the Nazis considered undesirable were detained in concentration camps, death camps, or labor camps. There, they were forced to work and live in the harshest of conditions, starved, and brutally murdered. Hitler came to power in Germany in 1933, after World War 1 when tensions were high because the Treaty of Versailles blamed Germany for the destruction the war caused and they were faced with the payment for all the damages, which sent Germany into economic downfall. The Nazi party got a lot of electoral votes that year in the government, and started creating propaganda against the Jews; they blamed the Jews for the terrible things happening in Germany at the time. Some of the propaganda the Nazi party made were pictures of Jews pointing out what makes them Jewish and their distinctive traits, so you can spot them. These were on the front of newspapers printed everywhere in Germany. (An Introductory History of the Holocaust) They began to take away individual rights, and picked the Jews apart. They also put the Star of David on all Jews clothing, so they could easily be spotted in public.
Anti-Semitism, a hatred of Jews, has been present for centuries in many places. However, the term ‘Anti-Semitism’ itself only came into use in the nineteenth century, and along with it came an ideology which fuelled this deep psychological hatred to develop into a political movement which culminated in Nazism. Throughout history, the reasons for Anti-Semitism have differed and in Imperial Germany, it was a combination of religious, racial and political factors which led to such hostility toward Jews. However, the economic state of the nation is often thought to be the main reason behind the way in which Jews were treated during this period.
