Anne’s belief that people are really good at heart is genuine because even though people can be disrespectful they are still benevolent. An example that sustains that Anne’s quote is sincere is, “We [have] all done things that we [are] ashamed of. Anne: Look at me, the way I [have] treated Mother,” (pg. 368). This demonstrates that people are good at heart because people realize their mistakes and acts of unkindness. Moreover, people learn from their misfortunate behavior and actions and become better people. While Anne thinks that people can be good at heart no matter what, other people do not change such as Mr. Van Daan. He stole food at night while the children stayed starving, wishing for a bigger portion of food, when he got caught Mrs.
I believe you can be positive during a conflict. When being positive during a conflict, a better outcome will occur. For example, 6 million people died from a tragic event, the Holocaust. Many lives were lost, a majority were frightened, and most were hopeless.Yet, some people stayed positive during this horrible time. Three sources, in particular, Anne Frank, Dear Miss Breed, and a life story that is very heartwarming. They show how being positive is the best way to handle a conflict, however a negative conflict will get you nowhere.
How would you feel if you were a Jew in World War II? Anne Frank was a Jew in World War II. The play we read was called the diary of Anne Frank. She said, "In spite of everything, I still believe that people are really good at heart." According to the diary she believed in the quality in people even after hardships her family has endured. Anne Frank had to go into hiding from Hitler because he wanted to kill all of the Jews. He thought that they should not be allowed to practice their religion. Because of this, she had to go into hiding for two years. Here are some ways she showed her belief that people were good at heart. The first reason is she thought of different ways to make her family happy in the darkest of times. The second reason is Mr. Van Daan stole bread to feed himself. The third reason was she found someone to talk to even when she was trapped for two years. She was believing in everyone else as they were breaking down in fear.
In Bettelheim's essay, The Ignored Lessons of Anne Frank, he criticizes Anne Frank's father because of the way he had his whole family hiding out in the attic of one family. Bettelheim claims he is not criticizing Mr. Frank, he just wants his readers to reexamine the way we read history. In his essay, Bettelheim concinced me that we, as readers should look again at the text and realize all the possibilities that the Franks had.
Anne Frank stated in her diary that "In spite of everything, I still believe that people are really good at heart." As a Jewish teenager during the time of the Holocaust, Anne had been hiding in an attic with her parents and sister, as well as the Van Daans, their son, and Mr Dussel. This time was extremely rough for her entire race. This quote shows how optimistic she really was. She had the attitude to think that even underneath all of the hatred that not only the Nazis beheld, but perhaps also the people that she was hiding with for years, there was at least a small amount of good in them. Margaret Urban Walker’s Moral Understandings is most certainly a feminist study in ethics. The main purpose of her writings is to “account for the gender inequality in the socially constructed relationship between power—the political—on the one hand and the knowledge of truth and reality—the epistemological—on the other" (Walker 1998, 20). However, her approach is quite different than some of the feminist theorists that have come before her. Instead of taking what I call a “care-focused” approach where the primary task is to rehabilitate culturally associated “feminine” values, Walker takes “power-focus” approach in which she expresses an acute sensitivity to the fact that moral life and social life are intertwined. This power-focused perspective insists that our moral responsibilities flow from our social position, which as Walker notes, depends on our "gender, age, economic status, race, and other factors that distribute powers and forms of recognition differentially and hierarchically" (1998, 22). She explores the ways in which our power, or lack thereof, shapes our moral understandings and determines whose ethical vision is privileged as authoritative. To date, the economically and socially powerful have been largely responsible for setting the moral agenda for everyone. Walker regards this state of affairs as inequitable; as moral understanding is not the exclusive property of the privileged few, but the home turf of everyone.
I told you why Anne had felt this way during her ordeal, and what this reveals about her character and her views about life. Anne is a strong and heroic young girl who has a heart for others and she is very compassionate towards others. Which is a great quality to have in that time period she was going through? Frank is good at heart. Mr. Frank is a very selfless and caring man. He cares for everyone in the annex. When Mrs. Frank finds Mr. Van Daan stealing food, she wants him and Mrs. Van Daan to leave. However, Mr. Frank disagrees. “ You’re speaking in anger. You cannot mean what you are saying.” Mr. Frank doesn’t want the Van Daans to have to live out on the streets. He wants them to be safe in the annex, rather than in the streets where they could be caught. This shows that Mr. Frank is good at heart because he cared for the Van Daans. The Holocaust is a traumatic history. About six millions of Jews got killed during this period of time. Holocaust is a history of anti-Semitism in Europe, anti-Semitism gained their strength after World War One, Germany had lost the war, so the German people blame the Jews for losing the war, and the Jews became the scapegoat. So Anne Frank is one of those Jews who got discriminate during the Holocaust. She went to hiding with her family, and the diary she wrote during her hiding time remained after she got killed in the camp. Her diary was published after then, and in her diary she had state it “Despite everything, I believe that people are really good at heart.” I totally agree with her in this statement.
Beginning in Act II, Anne is mature and caring. She begins to look out for others instead of just herself. She shows her maturity when she says, "I wish you had a religion, Peter." This shows that she cares for Peter and wants him to have as much hope as she does.
Everyday, their lives are filled with darkness and degeneracy. The whole world’s scared and they decide to swallow the fear. Growing up in a wartime environment isn’t easy at all. All of their lives have been mistreated, misplaced, misunderstood. Yet, Anne Frank still believes that people are good at heart.
Orphans are often forced to mature faster than any other child. Often, they are exploited and used for their labor at a young age, ridding them of any potential childhood. Moreover, orphans lack a sense of belonging and have trouble relying on anybody other than themselves because the people they loved broke the only trust they knew, this leads to an isolation among them and a struggle with social development. Throughout the texts and films such as Anne of Green Gables, Orphan Train, Sidekicks, and The Outsiders we see specific examples of how orphans are expected to behave more maturely than children who grow up in a secure family setting.
The poem "Her Kind" by Anne Sexton displays an aspect of the author’s life in a more emotional state. In the poem Sexton describes her journey of life as a woman; she remembers all the hardships she has been challenged with and emphasizes that her path through life was not all in sunshine. Throughout, the poem she uses incredible language to describe her hardships that she faced. She overall connects this to the fact that she is a woman. Anne is not angry at the fact that she has to face all the hardships as a woman but instead agrees that she is a brave woman. Although, her journey through life has made her feel constantly criticized as well as an outcast in the female world, she believed that she is just one of a kind.
I wouldn’t put up with it if Anne were my daughter” (52 Frank). Even though Mrs. Van Daan can be very rude at times, there is still good within her. During the novel there are not many times when her and Anne get along, but once Anne went upstairs to just talk to the Van Danns alone and visit them. This time Mrs. Van Daan was nice and they had a good time together. As Anne explained, “Yesterday evening I went upstairs and “visited” the Van Daans. I do so occasionally to have a chat. Sometimes it can be quite fun. Than we have some moth biscuits and drink lemonade” (50 Frank). Finally I appointed this theme because Anne can see the good in most people. She gets judged many times by the people in the “Secret Annex”, but she does not consider them evil people and in fact she understands and can see the good in them. Most people do not show the good in them all the time but it is secretly hiding inside. Anne wrote, “Yet I keep them, because in spite of everything I still believe that people are really good at heart” (337 Frank). During the novel The Diary of a Young Girl by Anne Frank one theme was, in the world there some evil individuals, but inside of most people there is a least a some
