Everyone knows what animal testing is, it doesn’t matter who you are. Some are for it, others are against it. I happen to be one of the ones against it. Let me give you 4 reasons why animal testing is a horrible idea. One, there are obviously ethical reasons, as well as religious reasons. Two, the idea of animal testing when we can grow artificial skins is moronic. Three, tests made on animals can lead to wrong or inconclusive results. Fourth, the scientist themselves. The religious reasons are most obvious. Buddhist are very against cruelty to any race, species, animals, people everything. Christians should also be against the cruelty to anything because of their God creating everything, but they refuse to believe animals are on the same playing field as humans. Each religion should have their own reserves about the testing of animals, it will more than likely not ever happen though. As said by Francesca Lia Block, in Wasteland “You always fed strays and bent down to talk to the dogs you met on the street, looking straight into their eyes as if they were old friends. (Maybe they are, you said, from another life.) You liked to go to the pound and look at them. You tried to send them messages of comfort. I couldn’t go because I started crying the one time I tried. All those eyes and the barks like sobs.” We can grow artificial skin and we also can, eventually, 3D print out skin! Why test on animals when we could just grow an eye or an arm or a brain? Then there would be no death, no injury, and no guilt. The lab grown object would be meant for that sort of test! The lab grown objects would have never lived, would not whine, panic, worry, or give inaccurate results! So why haven't we swapped to those types of tests y... ... middle of paper ... ...it was dead. Scientist can be a little slow, they could just be waking up, they could be getting ready to leave, etc. people screw up, it doesn’t matter who you are. Einstein forgot to zip up his fly sometimes, things like that. We mess up, it is the definition of our race. We screw up, we learn from the messes that come after, and then we mess up again. We will always screw up, whether it is with Spaceships, or clothing, or food even. We will mess up, we will learn. We don’t always screw up, but when we do it is big. Sometimes its minor, sometimes it causes huge loss of life, limb or eyesight. Other times its only minor, 4 or 5 deaths, or it is wracked up to the hundreds of thousands.
Is animal testing really worth taking away animal’s valuable lives? No, I think it’s wrong, inhumane, and cruel. Animals have feelings like humans do and they should be treated with respect even though they are just animals.When animals are tested over time they live in cruel and harsh conditions. They are tied up and changed to their cages or devices they are being tested on. Almost all tests fail in humans and it is not worth sacrificing an animals life.Think about all the things animals have to go through all the harsh and cruel treatment.They are put in conditions where they are not allowed to eat or drink and move around. Is it really worth killing an animals for eyeliner that will never hit the market or for drugs that all fail in humans. So here are some of the reasons I think we should ban all animal testing.
...Because people see animal testing procedures as unethical and immoral, it’s important for them to consider what their health would be like without the process—potentially afflicted with incurable illnesses. Continuing the animal experimenting process can only prove beneficial in promoting fewer ailments and cures to existing and future diseases.
Every person in this world should accept the fact that animals are living beings just like us. Additionally, every person should accept that animals are not ours to experiment on, to torture or kill them for our own purpose. It is a well-known fact that they are intelligent creatures and most important – they do have the ability to think, to feel anger and happiness, they want to make friends and to have life partners. Can you imagine the pain they feel when they are separated one from another or when they are simply excluded from the freedom to live only to die for cosmetics? Therefore, if we are against keeping people in captivity against their will, torturing them, doing cruel experiments on them and causing them to suffer and bleed to death then we should also be against animal testing. Consequently, if it is immoral and unethical to torture, do harm or kill a person then it should be immoral and unethical to do the same to these innocent living creatures
One word comes to mind when I think of animal testing: cruel. Animal testing has been a subject of debate for many years. While most people think that using animals to test products is a reasonable approach, in reality the outcome does not always show how the products will react on humans, and the animals suffer unnecessarily. Some would argue that animal testing is torture. Some would say that animal testing is completely necessary. There is no reason for animal testing to happen. There are several statistics that point to the negative side of animal testing. There are more pointing to the negative than to the positive. What is the point on testing on animals when we have statistics like how only 1.16% of the diseases are found in animals, or that 92% of the things that do pass through animal testing do not even work on humans? Europe, Israel, and India have already banned animal testing for cosmetics, because it was too harmful on the animals.
Every year about 100 million animals suffer through being poisoned, shocked, and burned for unsuccessful medical research. Some may believe that animal testing is a crucial part to medical research and should be used more frequently. Essentially we are torturing the animals for a negative outcome, both for the human and the animal. The Food and Drug Administration reports that “92 out of every 100 drugs that pass animal tests fail in humans” (“Top Five Reasons”). If the products and drugs that we are testing on the animals are not working then there is no use in harming a harmless animal. Some may disagree and say that animal testing has enabled us to develop many life-saving treatments for both humans and animals. But in reality, there are more cons than pros in animal testing.
“Over 1 million animals are burned, crippled, poisoned, and abused in U.S. labs” according to DoSomething.org. And although these animals may be considered protected under the Animal Welfare Act (AWA) they are still able to be tortured and mistreated in labs. On top of all this, there is absolutely no guarantee that results and data collected from these procedures are accurate. Our anatomic builds are similar in ways but not at all interchangeable. Even though it has saved lives, animal experimentation should be banned because it is not a guarantee that these procedures are done pain free and humans and animals react differently to the medicines and chemicals used.
Hundreds of millions of animals die every year from animal testing in the United States. Innocent animals are used everyday in laboratories for biology advancements, medical training, curiosity-driven experimentation, and chemical, drug, food, and cosmetic testing. They are used to provide information to make better products that are safe for human use. Although animal experimentation has some benefits, the negatives outweigh the positives. Animal testing is killing off innocent beings for the possible human benefit, and with modern technology, there are alternative ways to test products that leave animals unharmed.
Experimentation on animals is cruel, unfair, and does not have enough beneficial results to consider it essential. Humans and animals have many characteristics in common. Animal skin and organs are similar to humans and tend to react to tests the same as a human would. Primates and other animals are captured in the wild. There is even a market for laboratory animals where licensed dealers sell animals to research companies.
