Animal testing, animal experimentation or animal research refers to the experimentation carried out on animals. The use of animals in experiments and development projects to determine harmfulness, dosing and usefulness of test drugs before proceeding to human clinical trials (Animal Testing). Animals are considered comparable to humans in terms of assessing safety for treatments with drugs. It is estimated that over 150 million vertebrate animals, including mice, rats, birds, fish, rabbits, guinea pigs, farm animals, dogs, cats and non-human primates, are used every year worldwide for testing(Animal Testing) .The majority of the animals used for testing are rats and mice (Animal Testing). Animal testing is used to evaluate the safety and usefulness of everything from medication to cosmetics, as well as understanding how the human body works. Animal testing is done in Universities, Medical schools, Pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and Military defense establishments all over the world (Embar). The National Institutes of Health in the United States is the world's largest funder of animal experiments (Embar). Animal testing is used for countless products and applications. Everything from make-up to medications has likely been tested on animals at some point proceeding to their distribution. Most medical treatments today involved animal testing. Scientists who design drugs and other medical treatments have to make difficult decisions about testing drugs on animals. However, it is the law all drugs have to be tested on animals before they can be tested on humans. This is to make sure human patients are given a safe dose of a drug. There is no longer a need for animal testing. There are many other alternative methods that will give us the same desired results as animal testing. It is time for the United States to do what many other countries have already done. Animal testing needs to be banned. It is cruel for us to torture animals. Animals have feeling just like any other living thing .They feels pain, and do not understand why people are hurting them. If a test is not suitable for a human, it is not suitable for an animal. All living creatures feel pain and do not deserve to be tortured for no reason . Animal testing is expensive ineffective and horrible. It is time to stop the torture, by banning animal testing.
