The article states about altruism and mentioned three reasons of support. However, the lecturer view is completely opposite of what author mentioned in tha reading passage.
First, the reading passage claims that altruism shown by animal like meerkat is really great, they even take their life in risk to save life of other group members. In contrast, the lecture states that modern discoveries shows some different observed pattern which is some how unusual. The animal like meerkat have some different habit of eating when they seat as sentinel, they eat first and other members even still searching for food so when a predators come they first notice and escape and
For the mass population of pet owners, pets are considered a treasure, so the conversation of how much is to be spend on them is a hot debut. I do agree with Burkhart Bilger's Argument that, “Our love affair with pets our pets has gotten out of control.” but I contend with the ideal that it is a widespread problem. I still insist that owners should show attention and love to their pet but so without the overspending in regards to your income. This topic is brought up in Bilgers’ article “The Last Meow” where he uses different facts, examples, and stories that back up my position.

In Annie Dillard’s essay “Living Like Weasels,” she describes her encounter with a wild weasel, and how her recent research of the tenacious animal has led her to consider how humans live and what makes us so different from the beasts. Similarly, in a more domestic encounter, I too have been led to consider the nature of human life and why we should behave so differently from our animal counterparts. Before a case can be made for the causes of altruism, altruism itself must first be defined. Most leading psychologists agree that the definition of altruism is “a motivational state with the ultimate goal of increasing another’s welfare.” (Batson, 1981). The only way for a person to be truly altruistic is if their intent is to help the community before themselves. However, the only thing humans can see is the actions themselves, and so, selfish intent may seem the same as altruistic intent. Alas, the only way that altruism can be judged is if the intent is obvious. Through that, we must conclude that only certain intents can be defined as altruistic, and as intent stemming from nature benefits the group while other intent benefits yourself, only actions caused by nature are truly altruistic.

The consequences for Del and his family would be that they are free to practice their beliefs without fear of persecution and feel included and safe in the community.
