Angels, an objective view

“Because, while there is abundant mention of angels in the Bible, the nature of this revelation is without the same kind of explicit description we often find with other subjects developed in Scripture: Every reference to angels is incidental to some other topic” (Keathley). Many people in this world believe in angels, but every time they are mentioned they have been bringing a message from God to people in this world. In the Bible angels are mentioned a lot. “They were created beings (Psalms 148:2 Psalms 148:5 ), and were exuberant witnesses when God brought the world into being (Job 38:7 )” (Wilson). In the Bible, they are mentioned mainly when God wants messages delivered to people.

Angels are equipped with supernatural powers that allow them to rarely be seen by the human eye. Any scientific terms or proof cannot explain their existence. Those who believe in the existence angels are those who have already experienced their presence (Stevenson 5). The Catholic Perspective on the Kinds of Angels Catholics believe that angels have a special role of praying to God on behalf of humans. They are “messengers';, carrying hints or signs from God to his kingdom (Stevenson 195).

Since the beginning of religion angels have been a part of everyday life and have influenced human beings with their presence. Angels have always been thought as good supernatural beings that help those on earth, but that is not always the case. By the New Testament times belief in good and evil angels was accepted in both Christian and Jewish belief (Mercatante). Pagans believe in balance between the Masculine and Feminine energies of the universe. Many pagans believe in Karma, and the Law of Return. It is no truer that all Pagans are Wiccans than it is true that all Christians are Methodists. Most Pagans accept or embrace the possibility of magick, though not all Pagans believe in or are comfortable with the concept. Many, though not all, Pagans are fond of altars and shrines.

This love has perhaps prevented her from receiving intellectus (receptivity of knowledge), and in my mother’s case, even the ratio (reasoning) is affected. Long before the age of science, magick was a common element in every religion, even Christianity. Today, when speaking of one's good fortune, it is common to knock on wood, though most people do not know why.

He healed many people, but only a quarter of his miracles were considered exorcisms. The apostles were also exorcists by definition because it was known to be a true sign of discipleship. In ancient cultures, such as Mesopotamia, both physical and psychological sickness was connected to the idea of being possessed. As time passed, others, including Martin Luther who was a German theologian who led a reformation, used this form of casting out of evil spirits. However, by 1600, all Protestants rejected this idea as being superstitious.

Other religions believe that humans will be reincarnated after they die, and other religions believe nothing happens at all. Some religions who believe in a heaven or hell, say that their fate is decided by actions, and others say that it by grace. There are many more religions and many vary beliefs of the afterlife, but Christianity is unique. So because of that Christians have a large difference between them and all the other religions of the world.

People talk of ghosts and guardian angels appearing and giving signs more often than they credit God’s handiwork in miracles. It is possible that angels and ghosts exist but all miracles occur under God’s command.
